I find it very refreshing that I can go to sleep at night and not have to worry that some bullshit war will be waged while I slumbered.

I find solace in the fact that I don't think that most of the people in this country feel the need to join up with the tea baggin' party. I LOVE that there are people like me that despise glenn beck, sarah palin and dick cheney, and will hopefully get out and vote the next cycle. (worried about that).

We're gonna have a real fight on our hands this year. Get out and get hands on in your local elections.

If we don't fight to get this country away from the right wing assholes, we are in true peril.

6. Who is "u?"
Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 11:00 AM by MineralMan
Can you not type two more letters? This is not a text message. This is not Twitter.

Grammar counts, too. "American was" is way incorrect.

If you wish to be taken seriously, please write seriously.

9. I Don't Love Politicians
I love my wife and children, but not some "civil servant". I respect this President (a far cry over the previous regime) and I put trust (my vote) in him to do what's best for the country, but I hold no illusions of him being 100% on every issue I have strong feelings in. And this goes for all other politicians. They are "professionals"...in it for the money, ego and power. While some are more altruistic than others, they still have their special interests. Those who read more into politicians run the risks of being disappointed or frustrated...especially in the toxic culture that now resides inside the beltway.

You are 1000% right about the fight that faces us this year...and right now, the greatest demons are within our own sandbox. The frustrations of a legislative (specifically a dysfunctional Senate) gridlock is destroying morale and is letting the GOOP playbook dictate the terms. No wonder they're all giddy...their obstructionism not only has unified their horde but has begun a major blame game within the Democratic party.

I'm disappointed I'm not seeing the netroots activism this cycle I have in the past. If anything, it's needed more than ever to keep those we helped get into office know we've got their backs or their ire and to work hard to prevent the rushpublicans from creating even further gridlock by retaking either the House or Senate. Here's hoping that vision changes...

Cheers...

12. Love? No. Hate? No. Like? No. Trust? No.
I don't sleep better with Obama in office. His war on public education leaves this teacher more stressed than before, which is saying quite a bit.

Local elections? My rep is a republican who just had a public meeting last week with local teabaggers. Last time he was up for re-election, we put a strong candidate forward, worked our asses off, and got beat handily. This time no one has even stepped forward to run against him.

That leaves me looking at state offices.

14. Good Luck With That .....
Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 11:55 AM by SlingBlade
Pssssst. If I were you, I'd drop the " bullshit war " thingy, Be thankful for the TeaBag'r Glen Beck, Palin and Cheney corner post of American extremism which makes the perfect dupe and lastly don't forget
to thank those of us who DID go door to door,Who did sit for hours on end making calls and attending rallies and manning the barricades, all in the hope that change would finally come.

In the last few day's I've noticed a harrowing up tic of war fever, I've seen a steady parade of War Criminals and Corporate assholes proclaim that, " They'll Be Back ", along with the most recent in John Yoo's legal proclamation that had he wanted to, Dubya could have legally massacre dissenting Americans in the name of National Security. This man the news tells me, Has been cleared of all wrong doing.
Health Care Reform, Two Wars,Lieberman's, Blue Dogs, Nuclear Energy, bipartisanship , F'ing Retards .....

Nope, I think anyone looking towards the November elections needs to take a peek back first.
Take a peek at the hundreds of thousands that have been left by the wayside, Their hopes dashed and their dreams crushed while hearing that old familiar roar once again.

Get out and hope , Prepare for Change, Trust me.

A question for anyone who wants to float that boat once again
We paid a high price over the past nine years, Where's our change ?

Seem's to me that somebody owes me a few nickles, a dime and a brand new shiny penny.:argh:

18. Well I cant speak for the OP but I myself
havent been thrilled with all his decisions like bailing out the automakers and banks more, I'm not saying I dont understand why he did it because I do but just because I understand why doesnt mean I have to agree wholeheartedly or like it.
The other issues I have are with him continuing and supporting some of the the stuff Bush put into place, that hasnt set well with me at all.
As for Gitmo and Iraq, I didnt believe he would be able to do that right away like so many hoped and i was right, change after all takes time.

He was however to optimistic on how fast that could be done as were a number of people who voted for him unlike myself, I voted for him knowing full that he likely was not going to be able to pull the troops out quickly.
Thats why I dont hold it against him, after all he probably had no idea the republicans would hem and haw and try to delay any fast withdrawl, after all if they supported such a pullout they would have had to admit Bush (and they) made a mistake and we all know that they will never admit that Iraq was a mistake.

22. IMHO, that is not Love. Do you Love him for going to court to defend DOMA?
Do you Love him for defending telecom companies right to spy on citizens? Do you Love him for escalating the war in Afghanistan? Do you love him for selecting people close to him such as a former Monsanto lobbyist for heading the FDA, or a Bush shill drug czar, Michele Leonhart for the DEA? Or keeping war criminal Robert Gates on as Secy of Defense? Or Geitner assisting in robbing the hen house for his Goldman Sachs buddies? Or do you love him for backing down (if it is backing down --- I personally think he said what others wanted to hear) on Health Insurance Reform which was originally Health CARE Reform? Or do you love him for dismantling the New Deal? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=7696791
Or do you Love him for supporting Charter Schools and selecting his buddy Arne Duncan to help dismantle the public school system in our country?
Or do you Love him for keeping NAFTA?
Or do you Love him, Or do you Love him, Or do you Love him????

Frankly, I believe that we have a one party system that is run as Kabuki Theater and that the Democrats are slightly kinder and gentler when it comes to social issues than the Republicans. What we have is a kinder, gentler Republican in office. Unfortunately it took me decades to figure it out.

Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 02:41 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
and yet when it comes to the fundamentals of what our country is supposed to represent, he has made honest (?) mistakes? How can you call embracing Bush policies and corporatist policies an honest mistake?

keep in mind this aspect, hes not a complete moron like Bush and atleast John (change his mind whenever it can get himself the nomination aka Huggie Bear) McCain didnt become president with Palin as his VP, so ya things could be alot worse.
