HCR Reconcilation Thread (updated) We Still Do Not Have The Votes
We need at least 50 to force a Biden tie breaker vote. By my count, including the Republicans, it's 47 - 49 - 4 for Reconciliation, based on information that Cantwell will vote against reconciliation. Someone needs to lose in a primary!

Reid has stated he will have HCR in six days using reconcilation, but no mention of the public option from what I read. Could be I missed it. . .I am an ex-Pat in Asia.

Let's look at the 26 who have stated to use Reconciliation (according to Countdown). Let's assume we have those:

Feinstein, Kerry, Sanders, Brown, Whitehouse, Bennet, Burris, Gillibrand, Merkeley, Franken, Leahy, Schumer, Reed, Boxer, Udall, Mikulski, Shaheen, Lautenberg, Durbin, Specter, Casey, Dorgan, Cardin, Bingamen, Menendez, Wyden

The following are definite "yes" votes: (21 total yes votes)
Byrd - WV; Udall - CO; Rockefeller - WV; Kohl - WI; Feingold - WI; Inouye - HI; Akaka - HI; Levin - MI; Stabenow - MI; Tester - MT; Harkin - IA; Webb - VA; Warner - VA; Dodd - CT; Murray - WA; Carper - DE; Kaufman - DE; McCaskill - MO; Klobuchar - MN; Bayh - IN
Reid - NV (if the votes are there)

The following are definite "maybe" votes: (4) votes
Begich - AK (being a DEM in AK has advantages. He may be one term and we can use that for our advantage.)
Conrad - ND (Since I have not heard a peep from him, he's in the maybe section. Someone help me out.)
Hagan - NC (Since I have not heard a peep from her, she's in the maybe section. Someone help me out.)
Johnson - SD (Since I have not heard a peep from him, he's in the maybe section. Someone help me out. Conserva-Dem.)

The following are the "no" votes, the Blue Dog, DINO-moles in the Senate: (7 votes)
Baucus - MT (expect revenge for Reid's "spine" on the jobs bill. Too asshole.)
Bill Nelson - FL (no completely. Too bought.)
Ben Nelson - NE (no completely. Too selfish.)
Pryor - AR (No chance for his vote. Too brain dead.)
Cantwell - WA (WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)
Lincoln - AR (COUNTDOWN SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)
Landrieu - LA (COUNTDOWN SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)
Lieberman - CT (COUNTDOWN SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)

We do not have it. Expect 41 no votes (45 with these DINO assholes).

Right now, it's 47 yes, 4 maybe and 8 no.

I will keep this post up and renew it until I can post we have 50 - 51 votes for the Public Option through Reconciliation! This, coupled with Ezra Klein says the Democrats are running scared of this, saying yes publicly and privately poo-pooing it, and I am less than enthusiastic.

Keep up the heat!!!

1. I'd think Conrad is 'no.' He was an ass during the gang of six thugs crap
Conrad was the one who came up with the worthless coops idea and opposed any other form of PO. Baucus, OTOH, has not been dead set against a PO but, as you point out, may oppose it out of revenge for denying his masters their new tax cuts in the jobs bill.

2. Could the hold-outs be waiting until the last minute so they can....
ride in on their magnificent white charger to save the day and get all the publicity and donations?

I think the Senate is getting to be more and more dramatic as the days go by. Just DO IT, dammit.

3. Hagan in onboard. I called her office on Friday. Her staff said that she will sign.
I also called Tim Johnson's office. With all that he's been through, for him not to sign on would be a tragedy in itself. I didn't get a "yes" or "no". I'm actually more shocked that Webb and Warner signed on.

4. Dunno about Baucus. I think he's arm-twistable.

Yes, he's an asshole. At the same time, the bill that's come out is 99% his Finance Committee bill, and he's likely to support his parts. He's all but certain to work against a public option in the reconciliation bill (behind closed doors,) but he's too much of a coward to actually go on the record voting against it.

I predict he'll get arm-twisted into voting yes, though he could succeed in killing the public option.

5. I just emailed my Senator Cantwell about this...

called her last week. What's up with this? It goes against type for her - any explanations? I've received none from the Senator.
