HCR Reconciliation Count Thread (Updated). We still don't have the votes
We need at least 50 to force a Biden tie breaker vote. By my count, including the Republicans, it's 48 - 48 - 4 for Reconciliation.

Let's look at the 26 who have stated to use Reconciliation (according to Countdown). Let's assume we have those:

Feinstein, Kerry, Sanders, Brown, Whitehouse, Bennet, Burris, Gillibrand, Merkeley, Franken, Leahy, Schumer, Reed, Boxer, Udall, Mikulski, Shaheen, Lautenberg, Durbin, Specter, Casey, Dorgan, Cardin, Bingamen, Menendez, Wyden

The following are definite "yes" votes: (22 total yes votes)
Byrd - WV; Udall - CO; Rockefeller - WV; Kohl - WI; Feingold - WI; Inouye - HI; Akaka - HI; Levin - MI; Stabenow - MI; Tester - MT; Harkin - IA; Webb - VA; Warner - VA; Dodd - CT; Murray - WA; Cantwell - WA; Carper - DE; Kaufman - DE; McCaskill - MO; Klobuchar - MN; Bayh - IN

Reid - NV (if the votes are there)

I just put Bayh into a yes, seeing how he will more than likely now vote his conscience and the idea to me is that he doesn't support Reconciliation as a first option, but does support the PO.

The following are definite "maybe" votes: (4) votes
Begich - AK (being a DEM in AK has advantages. He may be one term and we can use that for our advantage.)
Conrad - ND (Since I have not heard a peep from him, he's in the maybe section. Someone help me out.)
Hagan - NC (Since I have not heard a peep from her, she's in the maybe section. Someone help me out.)
Johnson - SD (Since I have not heard a peep from him, he's in the maybe section. Someone help me out. Conserva-Dem.)

The following are the "no" votes, the Blue Dog, DINO-moles in the Senate: (7 votes)
Baucus - MT (expect revenge for Reid's "spine" on the jobs bill. Too asshole.)
Bill Nelson - FL (no completely. Too bought.)
Ben Nelson - NE (no completely. Too selfish.)
Pryor - AR (No chance for his vote. Too brain dead.)
Lincoln - AR (COUNTDONW SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)
Landrieu - LA (COUNTDONW SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)
Lieberman - CT (COUNTDONW SAID SHE WILL NOT SUPPORT RECONCILIATION.)

We do not have it. Expect 41 no votes (44 with these DINO assholes).

Right now, it's 48 yes, 4 maybe and 7 no.

I will keep this post up and renew it until I can post we have 50 - 51 votes for the Public Option through Reconciliation! This, coupled with Ezra Klein says the Democrats are running scared of this, saying yes publicly and privately poo-pooing it, and I am less than enthusiastic.

Keep up the heat!!!

3. She's not up for re-election until 2012...
Why do you say that?

4. She will lose in 2012, she's a 'NO' on this
and everything we urgently need to survive. Washington wants a Democrat, not a corporatist. But there will be division and discouragement if she doesn't get out. So it will likely go Republican. But not to her.

6. Cantwell was reported in the 'against' column on the TV news
Edited on Sat Feb-20-10 02:51 AM by upi402
are you certain she's a YES? I called her office and asked and they just said they'd pass it along to her. That's great news if she is for it! Link?

9. If that is correct and I am wrong, I will move Cantwell tomorrow.
If so, it is very disappointing.

That will make it 47 - 49 - 4.

7. Proud that both of my senators (NY) are on board... K&R for exposure.
Seems to me that I heard somewhere (MSNBC?) that Hagan (NC) was also on board... :kick:

That fucking jellyfish has been a neocon puppet for his whole time in office. He's retiring because he knows he can't win.

15. Damnable Cowards
One one side you have a huge pile of Healthcare Industry money
And on the other you have angry voters getting sick and dying.

Maybe the democrats not supporting reconciliation think the problem will solve itself?

16. K&R
But truthfully, I don't have much faith in Washington DC coming up with something useful. I think this will have to be done at local and state levels, piece by piece, until we run the health care corporate run insurance and other industries out of business.
