All this talk about deficits....
I am curious why the republicans, in their re-newed vigor to suddenly be "conservative" again with a strong desire to "reign in spending," are not championing an immediate end to the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns as a way to significantly reduce our country's deficit. Have they (the republicans) been called, or otherwise questioned on this thought process (i.e., stop funding the wars and you'll achieve significant savings, etc.)?

I know, I am just a country boy living in Atlanta, but what am I missing?

Note: this is more of a rant than anything else. Happy Friday everyone!

1. What are we spending - something like 10-15 BILLION a month in Iraq?
Yeah, Dickie, running a deficit for wars and tax-cuts to the wealthiest 1-2% is wonderful. But spend to stimulate the economy and give 40 million citizens health care is a bad thing. I'll use your own words, "Go fuck yourself".

And I seem to remember Cheney saying when THEY were in office, "Deficits don't matter". Fuckwads, all.

3. They see occupying Iraq and Afghanistan as valid
They see almost all domestic government programs as invalid. If we got rid of Social Security, Medicare, all welfare, and most of the rest of the domestic spending, there would be plenty of money for both invading other nations and large tax breaks to the wealthy.

4. Good points
I seem to recall a comedian saying, during shrub's terms in office, something to the effect of: that Bush and his party were all for investing in health care improvements, education and infrastructure... as long as it was in Iraq.
