Kid Rock's nightmare: 'Everyone driving a Prius'
Kid Rock has seen a vision of the future and it scares him.

"I have nightmares that I'm going to wake up and everyone's driving a Prius and living in a condo and we're all getting health insurance," he told Megyn Kelly on Fox News.

Wow. That is a scary thought. Every American saving gas, living modestly and not going deeply into debt if they become seriously ill. Gives us the shivers.

Singer Rock, the "cowboy crusader," elaborated:

"It reminds me of Europe -- everyone driving a Smart car and living a condo and that's not the American dream." Kind of makes you proud to be an American -- Hummers, mega-mansions and the poor piling up at the doors of hospital emergency rooms to load up on free treatment.

Rock is a Detroiter at heart. He praised the 1957 Chevrolet as "cool stuff" in the same interview yesterday and said the Motor City "has so much style" and ingenuity.

But I wonder how many freepers will swallow this up.

Or, is he really serious that nobody being homeless and everyone having health insurance is scary to him?

9. I don't really know.....I saw some of the interview, and he was kinda
joking when he said it, and wouldn't comment further one way or the other....kept saying that he wasn't smart enough on political issues to comment. He did say around his group of friends and family though, he'd make statements regarding his "politics". I kinda thought she was trying to get him to say something against this administration, government, or whatever, but he wouldn't. I couldn't really read him.

Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 09:03 AM by LiberalFighter
We were going 80 mph when we passed it. I wasn't driving. It just got on the hwy. A few minutes later it passed us probably at 85 mph.

We were laughing about it when we passed it. But not after he passed us.

12. One thing I will give him credit for... he has done a lot of USO tours.
Not something most musicians will do. No pay, long hours, bad living conditions, closest to a combat any musician will get.

11. This guy can't sing well, can't rap well and writes lobotomized "songs".
His entire career is based on new country/rock-rap pastiche, two incredibly sucktastic genres in their own right.

So why is he still worshipped, still selling CDs and still getting paid?

Unbelievable.

13. My nightmare is that Kid Rock still has a career
let alone sufficient relevance that anyone would care to report his idiotic remarks.

So, health insurance for all scares him? Hopefully, he can't pay the bill for his own, and discovers what it's like to go without.

20. In my nightmare, everyone is blasting Kid Rock's shitty brand of redneck rap. I reach
for some Johnny Thunders or a bit of Buzzcocks or Detroit Cobras with which to fight back, but it isn't there. That's usually where I wake up screaming.

38. No kidding. I didn't take "Ultraglide In Black" out of my
CD player for eight months. Detroit has to be the greatest music city in history. Two years ago I saw the Gore Gore Girls throw down the most balls-out furious rock & roll show I've seen in 25 years of going to shows.

27. What nonsense. I'm not ashamed Kid Rock is from Detroit, even though I don't like his music.
Where the fuck are the black eyed peas from, for example? They have way more to answer for than KR ever did.

"Oh well, at least we have Michael Moore... "

Ummm, one of the most successful rappers in the 2000s is from Detroit (not Rock, and no, I don't like this other rapper either.) As is one of the most successful rock acts. You forgetting anybody?

26. Kid Rock
Hey, I saw him last weekend at Mohegan Sun ... sold out the 10,000 seat arena and gave an incredible 2 hour show.
I wasn't even anywhere close to the oldest person there (I'm mid 50's)

He easily moves between Hip-hop, rock, blues, and country ... often in the same song.
It was probably the most audience involved concert I've ever seen, not a sit back and relax kind of event
he brought Peter Wolf of J Geils and two oldies with him
He even did a little Ted Nugent ...

First encore song was 'Lean on Me' by Bill Withers -- sang the crap out of it

I can look past politics and appreciate the music ... like we wanted people to do with the Dixie Chicks

39. Wow, easily the most misleading OP of the day/week/month
Am I the only one who actually watched the video? Or in the words of Ellen Ripley, "Did IQ's drop sharply while I was away?"

OP, you should have mentioned in your post that the added paraphrasing about the poor was not in the video. Or did you not watch the video either? The USAToday article says he "Elaborated" about the Hummer/Poor/Hospital thing, but it's a crock. He said nothing of the sort. And, it's obvious he was pointing out that the Health Insurance would be a good thing...."..well we WOULD all have health insurance...." within the context of lamenting the idea of universal sameness, as in the Prius/Condo thing.

How could everybody have so smashingly missed all this?
