James O’Keefe, the self-styled guerilla investigative journalist celebrated for his video on ACORN and arrested last month in New Orleans in an attempted expose of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu, got a rock star welcome at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference Thursday.

O’Keefe, 25, wasn’t scheduled to do any official events at CPAC, as the conference is known, but he attracted plenty of attention as he waded through the lobby of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, where the conference is taking place, posing for pictures with admiring fans who wished him well in his pending court case.

O’Keefe became a instant conservative celebrity last year when he and a partner, Hannah Giles, released secretly recorded videos of them posing as a pimp and prostitute while soliciting advice from employees of ACORN, the liberal community organizing group, on how to set up a brothel.

But last month, after he and two other men entered Landrieu’s New Orleans district office pretending to be telephone repairmen, while a fourth man waited outside, they were arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony, charges that carry maximum penalties of 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

4. The rule of law doesn't apply to Republicans
like it gets applied to liberals or working class folks.

Is that accurate ok-fine?
Anyway, if you don't think there's a double standard I'm spent. That's all I was saying

12. spare me
and he's not on parole.

parole comes AFTEr conviction or guilty plea

and your comment about it only being granted to repubs is absurd. i've testified in scores of felony cases snd worked closely with CCO's and i have seen zero evidence that any political party is favored vis a vis parole.

15. the wealthy in general do get better treatment in the criminal justice system
cause they can afford better lawyers. that's indisputable.

a wealthy black man, fwiw, is WAY better off than a poor white man.

it's a class thang, not a race thang.

OJ for example, is a great example. if he would have been poor white or black, he would have been found guilty (which he clearly was), but he was able to afford a very nice legal team that threw up enough smoke to get him off.

imo and ime race has very little to do with it. money has a LOT to do with it.

you don't see a lot of japanese americans in prison either. they make significantly more money than whites or blacks fwiw.

but tend to suspect black skin predicts serving time more than respectful attire and good hygiene.

16. Parole? When did he get convicted?
I'm thinking he probably persuaded some judge that CPAC was work for him and that's how he got to go.

17. GOOD!!! Let CPAC people and James O'Keefe have a grand time together.
It would be great to see video and/or photos of him shaking hands with important people and making toasts, etc. ad nauseam.;)
