Patterson Resident Was Taken To Hospital, Bu
POSTED: 5:17 pm PST February 18, 2010
UPDATED: 5:44 pm PST February 18, 2010

PATTERSON, Calif. -- An elderly Patterson woman was taken away to a hospital and her neighbors, fearing the worst, divided up her belongings thinking they were following her wishes.

However, the woman is still alive, and now those possessions are being slowly returned.

A woman, who wants to remain anonymous, blew the whistle on her neighbors -- all of them elderly or handicapped.

"This is not right, this lady has nothing now, they took everything and gave it away," a neighbor said.

Last week, Marguerite Lacore who's in her late 70s, fell unconscious in her apartment at El Solyo Village in Patterson.

Lacore went to the hospital and she was put on life support, the same day a friend who had the key started giving away her possessions.

"The bed, the clothes, she had a breathing machine, they took it, the TV, dishes, glasses, everything," a neighbor said.

2. Nothing new here. Same thing happened to my grandmother 30 years ago.
It wasn't completely ad hoc though. We found out later that "dealers" were instigating the "pre-emptive" looting by neighbors in buildings where many elderly live. In my grandma's case we were in the process of moving her to a nursing home because of increasing confusion.

3. This is so sick
I can not believe I'm reading this! I hope thre is someone who will step in and help this poor woman. If I lived closer I'd be there and I would be sticking a cattle prod up the Police Chiefs ass to file charges against every single person involved.

So angry I could spit nails.
