Politico - "Why Washington is broken?" - Hint: The Republicans
The irony is that Republicans will win in November based on the argument that Washington is broken when they are the ones breaking it:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/32047.html

Who would co-sponsor a bill, and then vote against it?

Six Republican senators would -- almost the exact margin of defeat Tuesday for a plan endorsed by President Barack Obama that would have formed a task force on the deficit to try to force tough choices on Congress.

The idea, long championed by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) and Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), needed 60 votes to advance but got only 53.

Among those voting against it: Republicans Sam Brownback of Kansas, Mike Crapo of Idaho, John Ensign of Nevada, Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas, James Inhofe of Oklahoma and John McCain of Arizona.

I think it was a brilliant idea for the President to call the Republicans on their bluff, and dare them to support a serious effort at deficit reduction. The only question is whether the media will call out Republicans for their hypocrisy on the deficit.

1. I WISH it was a question
Will the media call the Republicants out on ____________?

No.

Somehow this, too, will be the fault of "The Democrats, who hold the most hugest majority in history, EVER, failed again!"

2. The deficit is overrated...
as long as the nation can service it's debt, what's the big deal? And w/o the govt infusing billions in our economy over the past year, we'd have been in a depression. Let's see, balanced budget with an economic collapse or some additional debt and a growing economy...

The GOP consists almost entirely of morons. Yep, let's give the drunk guy who ran the economy into the ditch back the keys... Brilliant.

No one will ever go wrong underestimating the intellect of the American voting public.

3. Finally it's getting through the heads of our idiot political journalists...
... we have a crisis on our hands and it's being caused by the Republicans, like they caused the last ten crises.
