Just unbelievable... what can you say...

From the Log Cabin Democrat - Conway, Arkansas

http://thecabin.net/news/local/2010-02-17/two-arrested-after-baby-was-left-unattended-car

Two people were arrested Tuesday night after Conway police officers responded to a welfare check at a Dave Ward Drive gas station.

Upon arrival officers spoke to the 9-1-1 caller who reported there was an infant locked inside a 2001 Chevy Cavalier in the parking lot of J-Square Exxon, 580 Dave Ward Drive.

Officers found a 6-month-old girl strapped in a car seat, uncovered.

Officers asked people inside the business to claim the vehicle and reportedly received no response. A short time later, according to the report, a woman walked outside and officers stopped her.

Mindy Shay, 22, 15 Brister Lane, Conway, said the vehicle and child were her’s. Shay and her boyfriend, Nathan Martin, 22, 14 A. Bert Lane, Conway, said they had been playing the video slot machine inside the station for about 45 minutes.

Officers were able to remove the infant from the car, then wrapped her in blankets and went inside the business to warm her.

Officers said the child was extremely cold to the touch and would not stop shivering, so the child was transported to Conway Regional Medical Center.

Officers said the child’s diaper had not been changed in some time and was completely saturated.

Both Martin and Shay were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. Martin had a previous charge and was placed on a parole hold.

1. What can I say?
I say that the punishment for these two motherfuckers should be for them to be strapped into a chair in a diaper, in a room so cold that their bodies will stay barely on this side of hypothermia. They should be fed edible but highly dubious food, and allowed to piss and shit themselves freely.

And then, after a week or two, there can be discussion about setting them free.

I'm so sick of stories like this. Jesus fucking christ.

2. wow
I just can't possibly imagine how anyone could think, 'oh it's ok I'll just leave my kid in the car for awhile.' These two must be complete trash to think video poker is more important than their 6 month old child. Where I live this is a common thing to read about in the newspaper. It's very sad, especially when a kid dies from heat or cold because of it.

3. Let these assholes stay in jail for a while.

Maybe even turn off the heat and hose em down for a while until they get the connection.

4. Red-state Day Care...
And I'm sure if the couple goes down to the 1st Baptist Church of Conway and asks the preacher man real nice, he'll talk the cops into giving 'em back their young'un.

9. This area is not too bad - I was pretty surprised
It's a city with a Division I university, a national liberal-arts college, and another private college... It's a fairly moderate suburb of Little Rock.

Most of the red-staters live in the Northwest Corner of the state. (Duggar territory)

12. I don't think so. NW Arkansas is the home of the one big university the state has. Doubt there's a
more 'liberal' place in Arkansas than Eureka Springs or Fayetteville.

13. If you live in Fayetteville
which I did, as well, you know that you don't have to get very far out of Fayetteville to see the political needle slam to the right. (Springdale, Bentonville, Bella Vista, Siloam Springs, Rogers)

That parenting situation is disaster in the making.
