Image Crisis in America

I am not the biggest fan of the Tyra Banks show, but today's show is crazy, shocking, and interesting. There is a major image crisis among young girls in America. It is just crazy some of the things the girls on the show are saying about themsleves. I think three of the girls, all pre-teens, want to get plastic surgery. I have been completely shocked by the things these girls have said about themselves. Most of these girls dislike almost everythings about themselves.

I think part of the problem is the magazine culture in this country. It also has to do with the fact that there are shows like Dr. 90210. One of the girls even referenced Dr. 90210 as the reason she knew so much about plastic surgery terms. The final reason for the problems these girls have is their mothers. I think every girl who has so far said she does not like her looks has a mother who complains about her (the mother's) looks.

1. It's just bad parenting.

Barring any major facial deformities, there is no reason for a preteen of either gender to think their looks are so important and inadequate as to "need" plastic surgery.
