Spin on Amy Bishop's political views
I've noticed a concerted effort to cast her as an "Obama supporter"

The quote supporting this seems to be:

was a far-left political extremist who was "obsessed" with President Obama to the point of being off-putting.

Am I wrong to assume that the FAR-left is not much of a friend to Obama?

And "being obsessed about Obama to the point of being off-putting" - pretty much describes every member of Free Republic...

Is there really anything other than the assumption that Havard = Liberal = Obama?

1. that was from
http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?&articleid=1232943&format=&page=1&listingType=Loc#articleFull

when i read that paragragh, i thought it had nothing to do with anything else in the story. i don't know the politics of that paper but i have my suspicions. seems like a glenn beck kinda pronouncement.

5. I thought it was a reaction to early TV and radio comments that
assumed (wrongly) that she had right wing connections.

6. It used to be a Murdoch paper. I don't know if still is.
It's definitely a "far right-wing" paper that can be extremely off-putting.

2. If she had been a gun-toting right winger instead it also would have been pointed out.

3. Hey, look, there are crazy people on BOTH sides of the political spectrum.
Shock. Awe. Amazement.

If they want examples of insane wingnuts who have done horrible things I can provide them with a list as long as my arm.

4. Obama supporters can be murderers - not unique to the right
Edited on Wed Feb-17-10 12:54 PM by stray cat
students for years had been complaining on line on rate your professor that see pushed a liberal agenda in class - its has nothing to do with her being a murderer but I suspect she voted democratic

7. I think it would be absurd to think that no mentally ill person might like Obama
This woman is very disturbed. I'm sure there were severely mentally ill people who supported W too. Her politics has ZERO to do with her illness. She should have been arrested a long time ago and then perhaps would have gotten some help.

I think the media is stupid for trying to put a political spin on it and I think it is just as stupid for anyone to try and deny her political leanings just so we don't have a "bad one" on our side.

9. I wish some people who resort to violent means would not, but they do,
and there's not very much that can be done about it.

The killings in Bishop's case are alleged. A court of law will make a final determination. Her voting history likely wouldn't be mentioned at all if she were a Bush supporter.

The media are shameless whores generally with an anti-liberal bias that goes back a long way. I'd favor a significant boycott of mainstream media. Just stop watching programs that spew anti-liberal bias.
