I haven't done a lot of research on the topic but have had my eyebrows raised by the ads. They irritate me as much as someone discussing catheters and urinary infections on television.

I took a peek here: http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hecm/rmtopten.cfm and found a calculator that basically said that most will pay about half of what the home is worth in most cases...

Hence a further slight at the american middle class. No more passing on a home to your heirs. Now, with your ass against the wall, banks are giving you an easy way to give them your inheritance.

9. Maybe not always...my mom and dad did a reverse mortgage on their home. They

had this monster that no one wanted so they did the reverse mortgage thing. They got more than I figured it was worth, used the money to buy a new home in another state. They're happy so:shrug:
