4. You all have to realize

republicans are all about control. They have an idea. They think they are fantastic and so they start screeching preaching for everyone to conform to that belief.

I have three sisters that used to be Democrat. The first one got upset because her daughter would have to go to a nursing home and attend the people there as part of their community service. She gradually turned republican while latching on Fox and rush.

May second sister used to be a Democrat. She used to help the poor and needy in her area, black, white and spanish. She started listening to Fox and rush,

My third sister was also a Democrat but the same thing happened. Her hang up was too many Mexicans were invading her home town. It took rush and Fox to point the way.

I can not believe these intelligent and caring people went from Democrat to republican and have such hostile attitudes toward peoples of different colors. One went to far as to join the tea bags. OH BY THE WAY THEY CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIAN. One only watches the religious channels on TV the others are too unchristian she says.

5. Even smart people are easy to fool, good ones too

Smart people are the easiest to brainwash.

I think smart people have that 'concrete sequential' brain type that includes quick learning and good memory. Our schools are set up to reward that. These folks are reinforced all their lives, "You're so smart" or "You're such a quick learner!" And their memory makes them the go-to person when there's a question -they remember the answer.

That brain type also tends to respect authority figures -even authoritarians.

So they get to adulthood and their ability to question themselves is gone. They think, 'if I know it... it MUST be true'. Because all their lives they've been told what they know makes them better than others. It's part of their external self-esteem feed.

So they gravitate to authority types like Limbaugh and the scolding Televangelists. That propaganda gets ingrained quickly and deeply. Once they think it, it can NOT be deleted. New information challenges everything they know. And to challenge what they already know is to rock everything they are, how they have been since childhood.

But these folks don't have the ability to question what they know. They judge the source on its face and don't question their motives. They can tell you how many branches are on each tree, but can't see the forest. Let alone that there's an eco system going on. In the end, branches don't matter much. Eco systems and the tress that make them up do matter.

6. Interesting premise, but I prove that false. I'm a Mensa member and more liberal as I age.

I question more and more things. I've learned that there is rarely "one" right answer. There can be several answers, some can be more right than others, some might be equivalent in "rightness" and the selection of one is based on other criteria.

And complex problems often require complex answers, not simple ones.

9. I'm not throwing a fit

I'm the kind of person who ignores things because shock jocks whether on radio or tv love ratings so if I disagree with them I refuse to give them ratings by throwing a fit. That being said. I don't have to like or watch Family Guy. I've never liked the show and having a son with autism I've never liked it when comics make fun of the disabled. I don't even watch Carlos Mencina because I hate it when he does his mentally disabled voice. I don't like the word retard and I don't like short bus jokes. I just don't. I'm not going to throw a fit over it, I just don't waste my time with things I don't like. What I'd like to know is why those who like it seem to think that just because they like it that means that everybody has to like it? I think one of the problems we have in this country is that when we think a certain way we insist others think exactly the way we think. We don't all have to like Family Guy.
