Porn Slipped Into Wash. Time Capsule
Apr 27 04:07 PM US/Eastern

SEATTLE (AP) - There were a few surprises for the University of Washington's Class of 1957 when they opened a time capsule sealed 50 years ago.

Among audiotapes and copies of the yearbook and school newspaper were porn, a condom and some dirty underwear.

Alumni opened the capsule earlier this week in preparation for a public unveiling Saturday during a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the university's communications program. The capsule had been placed in an interior wall of the then-new Communications Building in 1957.

The capsule is being replaced by another created by a student-faculty team.

"The good news is that all the things that were in there are still there," said Jerry Baldasty, chairman of the Department of Communication. "The interesting news is that some other things were added."

(not much) more...

I wonder what kind of porn was available in 1957? I'd love to see it.

26. Priceless
Ah, wonderful! A few years ago the BBC's "Friday Night Armistice" featured a sketch where presenter Armando Ianucci & crew snuck into the (BBC TV children's magazine) Blue Peter garden and replaced the buried 1970 time capsule's contents with porn etc. Art imitating life. They must be so proud. :)

12. Remember ladies, MM wore a size 14 and every man
wanted her.

Now, unless you're made to feel inadequate if you're more than a size 6.

Which makes me wonder about those NutraSystems commercials. Why are the men fully dressed (in golf clothes), but the women all have to be in bikini's?

23. today's average size 6 was called a 14 back then. unlike's mens's clothing women's sizing
and the range offered has changed much over the years. that's why size 0s wee unheard of 6s were teensey. i have size 14 wrangler clamdiggers from that era that are 4/6.

Would it be the equivalent of what Reefer Madness was to the drug culture back then?

15. They have the story wrong; stuff added in 80's
Someone tampered with the capsule in the 80's, and that is when the porn, underwear, and condom were added.

24. I didn't know they were r/w.
They provide articles from different sources (AP, Reuters, etc.) Can you provide a source that has late-breaking news that isn't r/w?

25. A lot of people don't. It's a phony news site.
Drudge refers to it as though it was a real wire service, it doesn't have opinion pieces or run RW ads, but Breitbart uses the funds he makes for his right-wing causes.

They are bast pals going way back.

But it's not a real wire service, it's an unnecessary intermediary between the news agency and you, and a cash cow for a Rovian pig.
