Would-Be Dem Replacement For Bayh: The “Machine” Is Out To Get Me!

In the wake of Evan Bayh’s decision to retire, there’s been a fair amount of hand-wringing among Dems over the possiblity that a little-known cafe-owner, Tamyra d’Ippolito, would collect the signatures necessary to run on the Dem line — making it all but certain that the GOP will pick up the seat.

I just got off the phone with Ms. d’Ippolito, and I can report that it would be pretty bad indeed for Dems if she pulls this off. She alleged in the interview that the “machine” in Indiana is out to get her — and even claimed that the machine had conspired with MSNBC to silence her.

“The machine has asked me to step down,” she said, in a reference to the Indiana Democratic Party. She added that she had been scheduled to be interviewed last night by Rachel Maddow but that, mysteriously, the machine got the interview killed.

“The car was coming,” she recalled. “Fifteen minutes before, I got a call saying, `We’ve cancelled the interview.’

1. That sucks about Rachel's show - why not have BOTH guests...
Perhaps the Dem party leader refused to be on unless he was the only guest - like the Cheneys.

11. The story tells you why, assuming you believe Ms. d’Ippolito,
If you believe her, the Democratic Party does not want her to run and therefore the head of the Indiana Democratic Party made sure she did not get on Maddow's show.

If you believe her, the Democratic Party is not behaving very democratically.

Again.

3. If she gets the signatures they can't keep her off the ballot.
However, as of yesterday she was well short of the 500 per district needed (4500 total). As of this post she has about 38 minutes to get them.

4. Just did some checking....Republicans and Indiana are helping her gather
The needed signatures on petitions they want her on the ballot because they know she can not win. If she was a viable candidate MSNBC would not have pulled the plug on the interview with Rachel....

Was watching the Olympic coverage this AM...when it went off The 700 club came on....I was busy and didn't change the channel right off like usual...Pat Robertson, is predicting a Landslide election for Republicans ...Dems are dropping out fast, all are dis-satisfied with the way congress is not doing the peoples business and IT'S ALL OBAMAS FAULT...For a religious person he lies with the best of them....changed channel....

14. She had plenty of time to get the signatures she needed
On the petitions...I don't believe she was a serious about becoming a Senator from the get go. I check her web site..It looked like a grammer school student designed it...I realize all this costs money but if she couldn't even manage this why would the voters send her to the Senate. I just wonder if she even seriously wanted the job.

5. and that "machine" sure as heck don't want any stinkin' progressives running. There was a reason
DLCer Bayh waited until the day before petitions needed to be filed to announce his retirement.

6. Good. Keep her off the ballot
we need someone that can win. Not just a breathing body and a name to have on the ballot because he/she is a so-called "progressive" or something.

7. Yeah, good thing corrupt Evan Bayh waited to retire so he could hand pick "someone who can win"
What we need is monarchy, guaranteed someone who can maintain control of the seat.

9. You prefer nothing more than a breathing body with a pulse
that someone can call a "progressive"?

8. She doesn't have a prayer, has never been a candidate, managed
one of the worst-run congressional campaigns... If I were an Indiana Democrat I might like her politics but I wouldn't want her on the ballot. She would be worse than Coakley.

10. Oh, fer %^!&'s sake, no one on this thread is giving any clue what she's about...
"viability" is what got us in this mess in the first place. Having never heard of her before just now, it would be nice if anyone here bothered to say what she stands for prior to blasting her as "unviable" or whatever.

Here's her campaign site - could use some design work, that's for sure.

Tamyra d'Ippolito for Senate
http://tamyraforsenate.com/

Anyone who can even form the phrase "concentration of wealth" as a problem in this country has something going for them.

A snippet from her discussion forum:

Solutions for drug erradication:
1.) Education
2.) De-criminalization

Okay, so which is more important: doing the right thing or being able to spell eradication?

Some corporate ass who's going to replicate Bayh is supposed to be better than a Republican?

Figure it out:

BAYH RESIGNED TO GIVE IT TO REPUBLICANS. The timing prevents a "viable" challenge via democratic process, and he ANNOUNCED THAT EVERYONE SHOULD VOTE AGAINST INCUMBENTS. What does that mean in the Indiana context? Hello?!

Better a progressive should lose it than a DINO in that tradition.
