Body scanners' legality questioned
Source: Yahoo News

Body scanners now in use at Britain's airports could be breaking the law, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has warned.

In a letter to transport secretary Andrew Adonis the EHRC suggests both discrimination and privacy laws could be breached by the scanners, which are currently in use at Heathrow and Manchester airports.

The scanners create images which reveal the passenger's body under their clothes. They were introduced to heighten security in the wake of the failed Christmas Day bombing on a flight to Detroit.

Today's letter from the EHRC is concerned by the lack of safeguards about the operation of the scanners.

1. Nakey! Nakey!
The world would be a better place if we could all do as three year olds do and run through the room yelling this. Yes, indeed!

2. follow the money
who is profiting from use of the scanners, licensing, training and maintenance? Is more than one company manufacturing the equipment? How much does it cost per unit, how many is the TSA trying to push on US airports, and what do the company's financials and "forward looking" statements look like?

I'll bet there's good news story in there somewhere. . . .

3. Going out on a tangent here;
I believe at least one positive thing will come of this; the public will start to lose weight. I'm almost sorry for those TSA people who have to look at 30-40, or more, BMI pictures of naked people all day long. So I'm not perfect.

Just saying.

4. It should be considered kiddie porn when they scan kids.
It really doesn't matter if the results of the scan are somewhat blurred. As long as they know it is a kiddie and they know it shows them naked or near naked their brain will receive it as naked kids. Hmmmm Can they deny it?

5. People don't have to fly on planes
But those who do should have to go through rigorous searches. They bodyscanners are safe and very effective. President Obama has endorsed their use so I will as well.
