I pray Obama remembers he is a Democrats soon or else he will sink America
Democrats were elected in huge numbers because America wanted change. Americans understood that Republicans, who controlled government for the last decade, had policies that brought America to it's knees. If Obama insists upon having Republicans insert their disastrous policies into Democratic bills just for the sake of some phony bipartisan appearance he will sink the Democrats for another decade at least and by that time there will probably not be an America to worry about. The American people by a large margin rejected Republican supply side economics and constant "War Profiteering". Obama said this to America and I will repeat it back at him...ENOUGH Democrats were elected to institute Democratic principles and if they don't then America is going to suffer "Big Time".

2. The problem is that the Republicans do NOT have good ideas.
I understand him wanting to get good ideas regardless of politics.

Problem is that the Republicans do NOT have good ideas. They just have ideas which will continue to screw the middle class to benefit the rich.

3. Sure - and all you have to do is
Define "Democratic policies" that he promised and Congress can vote for as constituted. I am sure you will get 100% agreement on what they should be, and 100% certainty that they would be voted into law.

BTW I suspect the number of voters who could even vaguely define supply side economics, regardless of their opinion, would not have represented more than 50 electoral votes at the best of times. The number of voters who don't like the concept would have netted him much fewer EV, and the number of voters who based their decision on that criterion (rather strangely, since nothing he said and nothing in the Dem platforms suggested major changes to economic policy) would have maybe got him a handful. The idea that "change" to 50MM+ people meant "eliminate supply side economics" is a laughable stretch.

5. oh for fuck's sake. can we get real for a minute?
Speaking as if all Americans want this or that is just plain old stupid. Obama won with slightly under 53% of the vote and not all those who voted for him voted for the same thing or hold the same values.

Now I agree with you about Obama needing to stand up to the repubs instead of this tiresome bipartisan bullshit, but thinking that that is a de facto winning tactic is silly. He should do it because it's the right thing to do.

6. Bottom line is...
JOBS.

We will suffer in 2010 and 2012 if there aren't JOBS. The country will overlook the other issues if they get back to work... in my opinion.

7. IMO virtually every policy brought forth by Democrats does just that.
Health Care Reform, right now many employers are not ready to hire with health insurance expenses rising at astronomical rates. Take that pressure off employers and watch the jobs being created. Energy, there will be more jobs in new green technology than currently with oil, and oil will still be around as well. Education, well IMO only an idiot could not see how education is associated to jobs. The only major factor that the Democrats seem at a loss about is restoring confidence, which is a great jobs creator. Consumer confidence is essential and as long as Democrats allow Republicans to block everything when they have such a huge majority, consumer confidence will falter..And of course the need to show Wall Street is not benefiting at the expense of Main Street..
