I'm curious, I was watching the dish tonight and was sickened by
the amount of shows depicting violence, unnecessary faked death scenes, blood, gore ........... why is none of the real human suffering due to these 'wars' being televised? The REAL suffering, not the CSI type where you get to see all the graphic detail ........ but I have to say I've never once seen an actual photo of an Iraqi, Afghani, or any other injury or death scene. Sorry for being so morbid, but why are shows like CSI so popular when to so many the war on terra is completely ignored? When did the media stop taking responsibility for actual fact. It really pisses me off. But then, I wonder if seeing the graphic truth would matter to those who see an economy increasingly based on war as a good thing. I feel hopeless when I really think about it.

2. Because that was why America lost the VN war according to the wing nuts
The media showed body bags, they told stories about the attack of unarmed civilians by the US military, ( remember wing nuts hated Murtha for telling what he knew about such events in VN ) those media stories brought home the war and the wing nuts want to pretend that the military is on a godly righteous mission. They don't want their whacking off sessions to nightly reports of manly military deeds on the battle field to be interrupted with scenes of blood and gore, along with the thought that the military is fighting a loosing war.

3. The violence on tv is insane...
The number of sick television shows is unbelievable. There is so much
gore, violence and victimization. These shows are not garden-variety
mysteries, detective shows or dramas. They are SICK!!

There are so many victims of horrible, violent crimes--and now CSI shows
the bodies being cut up while Lady Gaga songs play in the background.

I can't even turn on the television after the evening news--when my kids
are around. The teasers for the shows, show dead people, women who have
been murdered and written on, blood and all kinds of gore.

There are shows dedicated specifically to dramatizing sexual crimes (SVU).
I mean really--who specifically tunes in to watch this stuff every week?

It's stylized violence. It's very disturbing.

4. that's the American psyche for you: violence on tv good, boobies on tv bad.
No wonder other countries see as bloodthirsty warmongers with sexual adjustment problems.

5. The "law enforcement as Demigod" shows serve a vital purpose.
As things get harder and society breaks down, people stop following the rules set forth by that society. These fantasy shows enforce the authoritarian paradigm that Big Brother is watching and all the guilty are caught and all those caught are guilty.

Gore-porn had always entertained the masses.

6. That's been bugging me too
I was outraged when BushCo censored the returning caskets of our war heroes. That denied us the chance to honor their sacrifice and mourn their loss.

Seems that neither the revolution, nor the war, will be televised.
