Boy Am I Glad I Don't Have To Watch The Olympics And All Those Commercials......
that's all the Olympics have turned out to be - another opportunity to sell us something. Because NBC won't air main events live and hold them off for prime time - after the winners have already been determined - all I have to do is go on the Internet and get the results. What a waste of money for all those sponsors. We're now able to watch the reruns of the CBS shows - because NBC won't air the events live and really make things exciting.

How stupid for NBC to spend all this money and then not let us see many of the events as they happen. I already know who won the Men's Downhill. I think that NBC will share the reruns with us tonight - but why watch now.

It's no wonder that Conan made fun of NBC and how much money they lost before the Olympics even began.

Remember how you used to be able to watch events all through the day. Those were the good old days.

2. We just sit there with our mute button ready and do crossword or Sudoku during the ads.
In fact, we really don't watch TV at all any more (just basic cable), and don't go to the movie theater. We refuse to be advertised to.

One hint - for the worst tasting beer in the world to sell as much as it does is a testament to the power of ads over people. We just choose to turn them off.

3. TV has had commercials since day one. It pays for the programming.
The Olympics are about celebrating what it is to be human, too bad you're going to miss it.

8. If you're not good at sports you're not human?
Personally I'd rather have Stephen Hawking represent my species than any athlete, to me humanity is in the mind, not the muscles.

4. Totally agree - it's not even live
And we did try watching but what with the 5 mins of commercials seemingly every 10 mins it became torture and we gave up.

7. You're just in the wrong country, that's all.
Usually the BBC gets their coverage right. Plus they got to warm up for London 2012... Digital Terrestrial viewers get a choice of two channels, some live, some replays. Satellite and cable viewers get what the terrestrial viewers get plus six more channels, and those lucky enough to have HD equipment can have one channel in HD - though I don't think it's available on terrestrial yet - satellite/cable only at this stage.

All without commercials. Lots of it live.

That's why NBC is called Nothing But Commercials. But then ABC - All Bloody Commercials, CBS- Commercial Bull Shite, CW - Complete W*nkers, and that censored channel that purportedly has a "news operation". There's a reason why they call it that name, it just rhymes with a sex act, that's all...

Mark.
