Thank Maxine Waters for the march route around the Capitol
from AfterDowningStreet:

Maxine Makes the March
Submitted by davidswanson on Mon, 2007-01-29 13:45. Activism
By David Swanson

I wasn't at the front of Saturday's march, but Barbara Cummings, who is always everywhere, informs me that the reason the march took so long to get moving, and the reason it went around the Capitol rather than making a U-turn and coming back down Constitution Avenue is that Congresswoman Maxine Waters told the Capitol Police to move their buses. They had refused for many weeks to allow a march around the Capitol, supposedly because Congress Members need to get across the street (on a Saturday? when they have tunnels?) But Maxine made it happen, and the front of the march returned to the rally area as the end of the march was leaving. We encircled the Capitol! THANK MAXINE!

in a handful that is actually worth voting for in our congress. She is up there with Feingold, Boxer, Kucinich, Barbara Lee, Conyers and Woolsey for me.

5. Agreed. Your list is the same as my "Magnificent 7."
Actually, I'd add Bernie Sanders too.

elected official actually serving the people. What a beautiful use of power. Thanks Congresswomen Waters.

8. Yes it was.
I must admit though that I broke off before the end because I was starving. I hadn't eaten anything all day!

10. Here is a toll free number to call
1-800-828-0498, for the Capitol switchboard. Also while thanking her for the parade route, also thank her for words that she spoke at the DC Protest. She is the first congress person to call bush what he is... A LIAR.

11. She is the best! I was at the front of the march and it would have been
very dangerous for us to make a U-turn and march against the oncoming crowd. I know Sean Penn and Rev. Jackson were part of the negotiations too. They really saved the day.
