Sen. Collins on National Women's History Museum (doing something right, for a change)
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 12:02 AM by niyad
S. 2129 Introduced in the Senate
On October 29, 2009, Senator Susan Collins introduced S. 2129 in the Senate with 19 cosponsors. On October 14, 2009, H.R. 1700 passed the House Floor on a voice vote. Click here to read the press release. Click here to watch the video. See below for how you can still help.

Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) said, "There are museums for stamps and spies, for news and for poetry--but today's action by the House means women are on our way toward a 'museum of our own'. What women have contributed to the building of our country is a story long overdue for the telling."

Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) re-introduced The National Women's History Museum Act (H.R. 1700) with bipartisan support on March 25, 2009. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) re-introduced the companion Senate bill (S. 2129) on October 29,2009. We've launched the Right Here. Right Now. campaign so that you can make your voice heard on Capitol Hill. Help us urge Congress to pass The National Women's History Museum Act immediately.

Write to your Senator and ask them to pass The National Women's History Museum Act now.

3. I got it back to even.
Sure, Susan Collins is a complete tool, but a womens museum is a good thing.

I remember watching the HBO movie, I think it was "Iron Jawed Angels" about the women in the suffrage movement. They didn't give up.

And coincidentally, the Hart Senate Office Building, has an entire corner boxed off to preserve the house they used for their headquarters. Instead of a square building, a corner is built to preserve the house.
