Dr Phil Jones to BBC: No statistically significant warming for last 15 years.
Climategate U-turn as scientist at centre of row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995

Data for vital 'hockey stick graph' has gone missing
There has been no global warming since 1995
Warming periods have happened before - but NOT due to man-made changes

Data: Professor Phil Jones admitted his record keeping is 'not as good as it should be'

The academic at the centre of the ‘Climategate’ affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble ‘keeping track’ of the information.

Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.

Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.
The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.

Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.

2. The BBC article on the subject is less nakedly biased:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8511701.stm

It also has no mention of the "statistically significant" claim.

15. Reading through the actual transcript, the Daily Mail's reporting borders on libel
They made so many blatant misquotes and errors, I'm surprised they even spelled his name right.

"Climate" is not about 15 years.

6. If there isn't an immediate 20 degree rise, and palm trees
growing in the back yards of Siberia, then it's not true.

7. Science isn't conducted in the popular media...
Unfortunately for my grandchildren, public opinion and policy-making is.

I recommend this source of information about climate change: http://www.realclimate.org/

The popular media are not a reliable source of information about science, especially political and economic hot potatoes like climate change. If for no other reason than the fail to understand distinctions like the difference between weather and climate, doubt and uncertainty, or theory and fact.

Suggested reading: "The Storms of My Grandchildren" by James Hansen. Hansen is an exception, in that he takes the trouble to write for the general public. Most don't bother.

9. They are a good group
Climate scientists who, like Hansen, go to some effort to make good information available to the public.

I would still read with a critical eye; and some work will be required, because they don't reduce things to the lowest common denominator, but it's within reach in intelligent persons with some knowledge of how science works.

Did it also cause you to join DU today just post about it repeatedly?

12. Just what global warming and climate change needs is an absent minded idiotic professor.
Self destructing humans won't really do anything about IT anyway.

just opinion.

17. This doesn't make any sense at all.
If his records were inadequate, not only would it not prove warming, but it would be inadequate to disprove warming. Statistics based on inadequate data are useless.
