Why is Dick Cheney on my TV screen this morning?
I can't get used to our acceptance of war criminality in this country nor the abandonment of the rule of law and lack of discussion. I'm not sure I will ever fit in with my fellow Americans anymore. Any connection is impossible now with people who this does not bother. The separation is permanent. We have nothing in common.

2. Why? Because as long as he is able to keep everybody's attention focused on the
outrageous things his says about the Obama Administration, and even putting them on the defensive, no one is seriously looking back at his role in the attacks of 9/11. With Poppy and Jeb wheelin' and dealin' with the bin ladens; and cheney's strategy for Iraq having been laid out at the secret Energy Task Force; and Rummy hiding (stealing) $Billions of supplemental military budget funds and with henchman Wolfowitz planning the invasion of Iraq; and Osama bin laden doing his part to create havoc with his Al Qaeda; and Ashcroft keeping the law dogs at bay; and Tenet "slam-dunking" the intelligence and ordering renditions and torture; and...well...there are just too many chances that someone sooner or later might just happen to do some actual journalism. Hence, we get to see his ugly, snarling face spewing vitriol at our President, sending everyone in the direction of his choosing and away from things like 9/11 and torture.

3. The consequences of NOT prosecuting his cabal are unthinkable.
I'm one of your fellow Americans who agrees with you. Allowing those in power to operate outside the law is more dangerous than any eternal threat could ever be.

to fellow citizens. It has to be because of the media. Did they all flunk civics class and history? It's as if many people have had lobotomies.

14. The media rarely challenges lies, even outright lies.
It's cheaper to be stenographers than journalists.

4. My theory is that he's obfuscating
He was practically never seen or heard of when he as VP. His location was always undisclosed. Now he's in all our faces. That man doesn't do anything for anyone except himself. And he's privy to a hell of a lot of information since he has stooges in the CIA. Next he'll send his daughter out again. He's got something to lose. Maybe his liberty, his rights, his comfortable life-style or something else near and dear to his black heart.

9. Who will call him on it?
The commercial media is not worthy to consider itself journalism in the least. It is void of the practice anymore.

21. Yes. There's something terribly wrong when it's not so much the news
that induces outrage but the reporting of it.

15. the rule of law
Edited on Sun Feb-14-10 11:09 AM by bigtree
. . . that would govern or initiate the prosecution of these elected and former government officials for crimes committed in office is dependent on the discretion or attention of our elected officials. It's not indifference to suggest that, until we reform our political system adequately and elect responsible legislators to carry out these judicial responsibilities, we will never realize the defense of our democracy underlying the pursuit of justice. In that effort, I would suggest that our continued, insistent participation in our democracy is the ONLY hope we have of dissuading or eliminating criminals like Cheney from broadcasting ass-covering screeds.

Even then, though, I admit I still loath hearing or knowing Oliver North still is able to present himself as a responsible arbiter of anything. I understand your frustration.

I've only seen a few minutes of this, but why do I think I'm watching Faux News?
