In the spirit of the winter olympics, does anyone remember this?
Jamaican Bobsled Team
The tropical island's first representative at the Winter Olympics

I still remember watching them and the huge smiles on their faces and tremendous support they got from competitors and fans. They sure did have a fast push start. Loved 'em.

Such sad news about the Georgian luge competitor Nodar Kumaritashvili, so heartbreaking for his family, team and country.

6. Yes, it was called Cool Runnings (I think)
I heard a lot of it wasn't quite accurate, but still a good movie.

2. Yes very sad. I don't know that the Georgian team will be staying at the olympics. Last I heard they
might be going home. Vibes to the family of that young man who died. I kinda hope they shut down the event. That track sounds too dangerous.

8. I believe they decided to stay to honor him.
I saw pictures of the steel poles and couldn't believe there was no mesh fence or anything else between the track and the poles. Someone screwed up big-time planning. Such a needless death.

5. OMG! I do!!!
I remember watching this with my Dad. I know that it was awful, but we both started laughing because it was so bizarre... x(

I feel terrible about the Georgian luger, as well. I visited Soviet Georgia many years ago and it's a beautiful area, but I remember it being incredibly warm there, too...

10. I was thinking about them earlier today.
That was such a fun Olympics. I think that was the year of Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards, too.

11. Same Games as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards on the ski jump
People watched him just to see how badly he'd do. He was there just to have fun, which is as it should be.
