Ron Reagan argues with Pam Geller over whether Ron's dad would dig Sarah Palin
As Digby says, the exchange is worthy of studying:

http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/epistomology-in-her-pants-by-digby-i.html

by digby

I happened to catch this exchange while channel surfing and realized that we are about to enter the wingnut twilight zone again. (Luckily C&L preserved it for posterity ... people will study this freakshow someday.)

Behar: Ronald, let me ask Ron -- why do we pay attention to this woman? She has a point.

Reagan: Well, indeed, and I think we do have to pay attention to her, unfortunately -- it's sad that we have to pay attention to her, because she's totally unqualified for high office. Yet --

Geller: Your father would love her. Your father would love her.

Miller: First of all, his father didn't quit halfway through the term.

Geller: Neither did she. Neither did she. She did not quit. The Lower 48 needed her, and she heeded the call. She did not take the easy way out.

Reagan: No, she quit. No, Pam, she quit. When you leave the governorship halfway through your first term, it's called quitting. She quit.

Geller: She came to lead the next revolution.

Reagan: Quit. Quit.

Behar: Ron, Ron -- no, I want to hear from Ron. Why would your father not like this woman?

Reagan: Because she doesn't have a thought in her head. That's why.

Geller: That's what they said about your father.

Reagan: My father knew what he stood for, you can agree with it or disagree with it, he knew how -- what he stood for, he could explain what he stood for. He was conversant in domestic and foreign policy -- she's neither! She can't explain where she stands on anything!

Geller: Your father would love her, and frankly I don't think you can speak for your father, because you -- you don't even espouse --

Reagan: No, Pam, actually, have you ever met my father, Pam? Pam, did you ever meet my father?

Geller: Did you ever meet the Founding Father. I've read everything he said. I've read everything he said.

Reagan: Did you ever meet my father? I'm asking you a simple question. You can't answer that because the answer is no. So why don't you rely on someone who knew him very well to tell you what he would think of Sarah Palin.

Behar: It's really hard for you to argue with the offspring of the guy and claim you know more than he does.

Geller: He's nothing like the father! He doesn't share the epistemology of the father. He doesn't have the nature of his father, the knowledge -- he has nothing in common with the father. Look --

Behar: He knows what his father would think rather than you.

<Crosstalk>

Reagan: Is Pam still blathering about me and my father? Oh, you are. You still haven't met him, though, right? You still didn't know him, so you're just sort of making things up as you go along, right?

Geller: You never met him either. You know, you never met him either. Do you think you're making your father proud? Do you really think you're making your father proud?

(The Founding Father? I'd assume she was talking about Jesus, but she's Jewish, so maybe Moses. John Bolton?)

How dare Ron Reagan assume that he knows his own father when Pam Geller has spent countless nights cuddled up in bed with her Ronnie statuette fantasizing about jelly beans and nuclear war. Let's just say that in her mind, Gellar has "known" Ronald Reagan in the biblical sense, and one has to admit that's something Ron Jr is very unlikely to have experienced.

For a substantially less vulgar (if no less snarky) discussion of Geller's epistomology, LGM has the goods.

She did not quit. The Lower 48 needed her, and she heeded the call. She did not take the easy way out.

Really? I think I may have found someone even more stupid, more insane, more batshit crazy than Sarah Palin!!!

The Lower 48 needed her?

You just can't make this shit up!

By the way, Ms. Geller: The "Lower 48" as you put it NEEDS Sarah Palin to go the f*ck away. And you can go with her, too. We don't need any more whack jobs running around loose.

If it weren't so pathetic, it would be laughable. :wtf:

5. The only thing more pathetic than this dumb woman is Michael Reagan.
Apparently he took her side over his own brother on his hate radio show yesterday. Of course, this is a guy who thinks the solution to the Middle East problem is to shove hand grenades up the asses of all Arab babies, so it's no wonder he sides with an extremist over his own family.

They'll probably drag Nancy into it next, but I'm sure she will side with Ron Jr.

Not really a good or nice argument. Still, I like Ron Reagan. He used to do the dog shows (not sure if he still does). But this woman is way idiotic.

Blood matters less than upbringing on the topic of knowing one's parents. Michael's an ass but it's not because he doesn't have Reagan's genes.

31. Adopted or blood related it's Michael who doesn't know his father
in Patty Davis' book she says that her mother Nancy would have nothing to do with Michael. Michael didn't grow up in their home and Patty never even met her brother Michael till the teen age years.

37. It's one thing to say he didn't know his father, it's yet another thing to dismiss him
on the basis that he's adopted. That Patty didn't know him isn't surprising -- many children of second or later marriages don't have much of a relationship with children from the first. There are plenty of ways to trash Michael without harping on his nonbiological relationship and that was my point.

34. Actually, Michael the Douchebag spent much of his youth sent away...
to boarding school. A famous anecdote has his parents coming to visit him, his father not recognizing him, and introducing himself with "Hi! I'm Ronald Reagan"

And really...who can blame them for packing that piece of shit off to boarding school?

42. Fine, then make the point without using his adopted status.
Honestly, it's easy to shut down Michael Reagan's opinions in this matter without it.
The only reason to bring it up is if one believes that adopted children are lesser children of their adopters.

Edited on Thu Feb-11-10 02:53 PM by kskiska
RR had him banned from the White House during his term for trying to do business cashing in on the Reagan name. The Secret Service caught him stealing White House knick-knacks. I don't remember Michael speaking out on anything when RR was still lucid. It was only when RR had Alzheimers that Michael began talking.

9. This woman is representative of many people on the right - reality
does not support their beliefs, so reality is wrong. I worked several years with a guy my age who is a believer in the "6,000 year old earth" idea. He BELIEVES that any evidence indicating otherwise was planted by god the creator to test the faith of the true believers. He is an ordained minister of some fundamentalist brand, has his own group of faithful supporters, and links with others of his brand of christianity.

It takes a very delusional person to really believe all this, and Ms Geller certainly seems typical.

There would be some serious debate going on in my head as to whether I should punch that person in the face.

And at this point, I don't know which side would win the debate. (This is mostly angry rhetoric, but still...)

I can't stand Ronald Reagan. I think he's the cause of most of the country's troubles at this time. But I would never tell either of his sons that he doesn't know his father.

21. What the...EPISTEMOLOGY!? Oooh, a big word! Run away!
Main Entry: epis·te·mol·o·gy
Pronunciation: \i-ˌpis-tə-ˈmä-lə-jē\
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek epistēmē knowledge, from epistanai to understand, know, from epi- + histanai to cause to stand — more at stand
Date: circa 1856
: the study or a theory of the nature and grounds of knowledge especially with reference to its limits and validity

So, when Geller says "He doesn't share the epistemology of the father., she's claiming he doesn't share the understanding of his father.
Well, maybe that's so. The Reagans were not the most...er...how shall I put this...non-dysfunctional family to come down the pike.

Still, for her to claim better understanding of St. Ronald merely because she's 'read everything he said' (and then to describe him as a 'Founding Father' as well) :wtf: is just a wee bit on the delusional side, if ya ask me...:silly:

If she's referring to the dudes who were responsible for the Declaration of Independance, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, etc...
ain't NOBODY gonna be meetin' those guys...they're long gone.
If she claims she HAS met them, it's time for either a medication adjustment, or a meeting with the nice men in white coats (and an extra-long-sleeved jacket).

"In God (George) We Trust" started appearing on the Daughter of Babylon's currency when the powers-that-be celebrated George Washington becoming a god by painting "Apotheosis of Washington" on the capitol rotunda dome. (That's old George, draped in the purple, at the center of a pantheon of pagan gods.)
