The faux controversy about Palin's bracelet- not black and not a memorial bracelet
Look, can't stand her. Like anything that makes her look as stupid and craven as she is- short of something that's simply not true.

Reports Of Sarah Palin's Bracelet 'Blunder' At Tea Party Convention Incorrect

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post misstated the color of a bracelet Sarah Palin wore during a Tea Party appearance. Palin's bracelet was not black, as was reported by several news outlets, and is not meant to memorialize her son Track Palin, but rather to honor his service, according to Herobracelets.org.

Sarah Palin did not commit a faux-pas last weekend by wearing a bracelet with the name of her son Track Palin, who served in Iraq in 2008, as some news outlets reported.

In a guest article in Wednesday's Yale Daily News, Eric Robinson, a first-year Yale graduate student in international relations and a veteran of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, asserted that Palin's bracelet was black -- a choice that he found troubling:

has everyone already forgotten that her son wouldn't have served at all if he hadn't gotten himself in trouble with the law? He was given military service or jail as a choice in getting out of it. Some hero she's got there.

5. I retired from the Navy in 1988, with 28 years. During those 28 years

I worked with many men who had been given the same choice - military or jail.

They did their jobs, they came to work on time, rarely did they cause any more ruckus than anyone else.

Prior trouble with the law, if it actually applies to the Palin lad, does not preclude honorable service.

Prior trouble with the law does not preclude a person becoming a fine upstanding citizen, even with mo military service.

How many of our friends and neighbors have had run-ins with authorities, and are now outstanding friends and neighbors? How many of our relatives?

It is time to let some of this go. There is enough stuff that is disagreeable without inventing stuff, don't you think?

10. My point was- he did not serve for nobel reasons.
Edited on Thu Feb-11-10 02:04 PM by notadmblnd
and I'd bet two dollars to a donuts, that he didn't once go out side the green zone or ever see conflict up close and personal. what's heroic about serving in an administrative capacity when your only other choice was prison? Perhaps he's turned his life around, but that remains to be seen.

12. Most of us don't/didn't serve for "nobel" reasons, or noble ones
either for that matter. Initially, for my part, I was in the military because I was ill prepared for college after high school, and I didn't know what else to do.

I stayed because it was a steady income, I could feed my family, and I genuinely enjoyed the job I had - working on airplanes.

Inasmuch as the mischief he performed was in 2005, and he went into the Army quite some time later, there is probably no correlation between that mischief and his military service.

Does everyone know about this enlistment package where you're only activated in election years?

8. Are you sure you want to go there without first checking
Beau Biden's service record? Don't start something that may come back to bite, like the whole bracelet thing.

9. I hope the a-hole who started this bracelet thing
was better at spotting the difference between "terrorists" and civilians than he was the difference between black and brown.
