I was passing by MSNBC on the dial and Gov. Beshear of Kentucky was on
talking about the Toyota recall. He tried to dodge a question about why it was known as early as 2003 that Toyota vehicles were having an acceleration problem and now, in 2010, something is finally being done about it after 7 years, during which several deaths have accumulated due to the problem.

But what really got my ire up was him defending Toyota as a "good corporate citizen", as if we should forgive them because they are a "good corporate citizen". So, if they are a citizen and knew they had a deadly defect in the product they produced, why can't they be charged with a malicious crime?

One way or another, we need to shift this corporate citizenship/personhood paradigm.

7. Yeah, if corporations were persons, then Ken Lay should have been charged with murder.
And a lot of bankers should be charged with negligent homicide.

9. How are they "Good Citizens"?
I'm sure Toyota demanded tax concessions and handouts to build their plants.

And didn't Toyota install those hail machines around their storage lots? The ones they'd run if there was any possibility of bad weather. Those machines just shifted the hail to nearby residents and the sound disturbed everyone for miles around them.

"Good Citizens" my ass.
