Ex-Edwards Aide Andrew Young Says Elizabeth Edwards May Sue Him

The saga continues, as former aide Andrew Young says Elizabeth Edwards is threatening to sue him for the downfall of their marriage.

Andrew Young said Wednesday that Elizabeth Edwards has threatened an “alienation of affection” lawsuit. Young said he had anticipated that the Edwards family would come after him following his book about the candidate’s affair.

An alienation of affection lawsuit allows a person to sue a third party for contributing to the breakup of a marriage. Jilted spouses typically seek money from their partner’s lover.

North Carolina is one of only about a half-dozen states that still have such a law.

There has been no comment from Elizabeth Edwards on this. But, whatever Andrew Young did, if anyone is to blame for the dissolution of this marriage, wouldn’t that be someone who cheated on his wife, with whom he had a child he denied was his?

1. I think these so called "tell all " books are sickening
these people live on the inside of these candidates lives. They take personal information, twist it to fit the way they want the subject to be. They put just enough truth in it so it makes it "difficult" to sue. But then people devour the books as if they are gospel. Ruin the reputation of some one who is innocent, like Elizabeth and then move up gleefully sopping up money from TV appearances to promote the books.

Look at Palin, probably not one darn word, or close to one darn word in the whole book true but the world, mostly takes it for gospel. Sickening. Sickening.

4. Sorry, Elizabeth knew about this affair and green lighted her husband's candidacy anyway
All the while promoting the illusion of a happy-as-clams family life to an unsuspecting public.

Why? Her lust for power was obviously as strong as her husband's libido. Not innocent.

10. Different eras, different rules
The Edwards candidacy was a totally reckless act, given today's environment.

12. Well, what about Hilary? Does the same apply there? How many of our elected officials are having
affairs and their wive know and we don't? I'll wager plenty, since the ones we do know of are numerous.

Why the dumping on Elizabeth as though it's such a rare thing?

3. Any candidate these days needs to vet
everyone around him or her before campaigning. I sometimes wonder if these "aides" are more concerned about their own careers than the person they work for.

15. Oh, Johnny vetted Young, all right
And he was perfectly happy with the fact that this weasel would help him lie to all of us about the very stupid thing Edwards was doing.

That's what scoundrels want, someone who will do anything for a share of the booty once the piracy is completed. Andrew Young's 'loyalty' was steadfast, until he realized he wasn't going to get a plum job in the Edwards Administration. Same thing for Elizabeth, when she realized she wasn't going to be First Lady.

The winner out of all of this? Rielle Hunter, Johnny's little floozy, who thinks that her baby is the reincarnation of an ancient Buddhist monk.

5. “alienation of affection” lawsuit??
What is this, the eighteen hundreds?

:eyes:

If anything, the Democratic Party should sue the Edwards AND Young for reckless endangerment. The fact that they kept on campaigning for the Presidency knowing that bombshell was ticking away in the closet is flat-out criminal.

7. Elizabeth wouldn't dare do that. Her HUSBAND is responsible for
the "alienation of affection," she is experiencing. Sheesh.

Kick major ass, gather up the booty, and leave John, Anthony and Rielle wondering what the fuck happened.

I applaud Elizabeth for going after these people. They conspired against her interests for years, and they all wasted vast marital estate property in which she had an interest.

It's a real cause of action in North Carolina, and she really can squeeze Anthony until he gives up John.

11. A marriage failed. That's a sad thing. EE's suit gives the impression of
a lashing out, a gesture of vengeance in response to emotional pain.

It does not seem to me to be the sort of action Elizabeth Edwards would advise others to take and I think she should reconsider taking it herself.
