The smart guy on Channel 7, Mark Scirto, said nothing about global warming being wrong. He's smarter than the other weatherdudes here.

1. ? It's winter. It snows. Is snow unusual in that part of the world?

2. It depends on where you are in Texas.
Snow is pretty rare in Houston.

It freezes and snows every year in Dallas. Where I am, in between Houston and Dallas, we get snow every three or four years. Last snow we had was the day before easter in 2007. And it stayed on the ground. First time they ever had snow in April in Texas.

3. What is unusual is that it brings out all repuke fruitloops saying this is proof there is no
global warming. If one snowflake falls here in the south, the Limbaugh/Fox News brainwashed idiots all come out with there anti-warming talking points. When we have weeks of warmer than normal weather, you never hear from them.

12. It happens in East Texas about once every 5-10 years.
Edited on Thu Feb-11-10 04:47 AM by TexasObserver
This is the coldest winter the Dallas to Houston area has had in probably 20 years.

26. Here just south of Ft Worth, in Johnson Co., we got the most snow yesterday
that we've ever gotten in a single calendar day. In my location, we got 7". That's the most accumulation in some 24 years.

I'm not sure, but I think some of this is related to El Niño.

4. I blame myself
I shouldn't have come here from Minnesota, gloating to all at home about being in San Antonio in February. Don't worry, I leave on Saturday, it will be a beautiful day.

6. I really hate to be this way, but from somebody in the DC suburbs,
I have little sympathy. I wish that the storms that we have had recently were only 2-4 inches, but we have had over 40 inches in less than a week.

8. Sorry You're still dealin' with that! brrr!
texas tends to get ice storms, 1-2 between the holidays & Feb, mostly..
so power lines/outages are an issue.

also, folks in texas freak out when streets/hiways get a little rain on 'em..
have NO idea how to navigate icy roads.

I sympathize with You, tho'..this has been a long, cold, crazy winter for so many of us.
Make something HEARTy & delicious to eat & soothe Your Spirit.
Stay warm & safe up there!

9. Trying really hard here
Made chili for dinner, hit the spot. Sorry to rant, but we are waist deep in snow right now, and they have another snowflake on Monday's forecast. I am not enjoying this weather pattern.

Sorry I ranted, thanks for understanding.

10. mmmm..chili! extra spicey, please!
A goood rant generates HEAT..& goood for Your circulation, too. :)
But the weather is hard on the Mind, Body, & SPIRIT..
Be sure to load up on Your vitamin D, and be NICE to YourSELF..
Treat YourSelf to a little luxury, or indulge in something special to YOU.

I tend to need extra, very hot bubble baths, with a goood book..
When I'm chilled to the bone, warms me through & through.

Also, keep in Mind, this is traditionally a time for introspection,
REST, Gathering Friends, Loved Ones, Neighbors, inside, or around the Fire..
Time of Dreams and "preparing to prepare".. the Days are already growing LONGER!

Take Care of YourSelf.. & Keep Cookin' GOOOD stuff!(((hug!)))

24. Dug out and watching the olympics
Now just waiting for it to all to melt, I think I may have snow in the yard until April or so. But this last storm wasn't as bad as last weekend's storm, at least it wasn't for my area. Now waiting to see what we are going to get on Monday. :scared:

25. We were lucky, by and large.
The snow was about a foot, but it was wet and not too cold; no ice. Not much wind and tomorrow it get to 50 degrees F.

Mainly the problem is downed trees and power lines. I feel for the people without power. Electricity is the coin of the realm.

18. It snowed for several hours last night (Thursday night)
We made a snow man. Today it is so bright outside, it's amazing.

It's above freezing and melting some, but still pretty thick.
