I remember... I was in 4th grade when I received my first 'real' valentine. It was a cute small, old fashioned card -written in German! It was silly and it was surprising and I was delighted. I always delight in fun little things. Thank you!
note:
This snow day has me back and forth between work and DU. My trek to the closest FEDEX box to mail my work in...
At times I think this is trivial and other times this site is my salvation. I never would have joined DU except for circumstance. I was torn away from my home and found myself without community. I did not join for community, but to see one in action. Many of you are familiar to me but I have not tried to become one of you (even if that is possible). I give a little money, but I give more to those struggling to survive. I come here to laugh, to learn and to commiserate.
I am neither a leader nor a follower. I am not rich nor am I poor. I am neither brilliant nor ignorant. I am like you, except different. …as we all are. I am old but I still expect to live long enough to make a difference. I hope that what I say occasionally informs or enlightens. I thank you all for enlightening me. The wealth of information here is vast.
I work, I think and I try to benefit society and effect positive change. What I believe we have in common (besides ascribing to democratic principles) is that we respect our differences and hold them up as something wholesome and good. My personal goals in life are to try to encourage people to use cloth bags (not plastic or paper), eat less meat, treat all with respect, and to join or start co-ops. I try to live what I believe and what I believe is that we (working together) can make a difference.
