It seems like there is a progressive America, and a regressive America
The progressive America believes in multiculturalism, equal rights, education, equality of opportunity, and freedom from tyranny-whether it be government, corporate, or a combination thereof.

The regressive America prides itself on being hostile to other cultures, racist, ignorant, bigoted, hateful, intolerant of dissent, and anti-intellectual. Many of them stage "Tea Parties."

This is just my impression, feel free to disagree.

...seemingly depending on who's winning.

13. Actually it seems the hard core left and hard core right are the ones who dont think...
They are blinded by their ideology and refuse to compromise even if it would be better for the country as a whole.

14. This thread is about progressives and regressives...
Sorry, but those who can't figure out if they're progressive or regressive need to think about it a little more.

4. The Repugs Are Good At Labeling Things Then Running That Against Us.....
so I vote for renaming the Tea Party & Repugs as the "Regressives" and use that moniker as much as possible when talking about them and their continually working against this Administration.

From now on that how I'll be calling them. I hope others on DU and in the media adopt that moniker for them as well.

17. There isn't a sharp divide between the two.
There is a whole lot of the regressive attitude even here. Bigotry, or tolerance of bigotry, intolerance of dissent, anti-intellectualism and pride in not knowing, focus on 'your team' winning at all costs instead of focusing on specific policy-oriented results.

Instead of tea parties we get blue dogs, trolls, and cheerleaders. :(
