1. Think back 9 years
Did anyone think that voters would give bu$h enough votes that they could steal the election?

It can happen again!

24. Well
As much as I hated Bush, Palin makes him actually look smart! I don't think the majority of people in this country are crazy enough to vote for her. The more they see her, and her hand, they more they will see that this woman doesn't have a clue as to what is going on in this world. She is after her share of the big "MONEY" and even though she may try and make a run, there is no way that the republicans with the power are going to let her be the nominee!

Her followers are the nut wing of the right wing, and that's pretty far out there. They love her, but they will never be able to gather enough support to put her as the nominee, let alone as the next president of the U.S.! I think she knows this, and she is just going to keep on taking advantage of these crazy people and do all the "PAID" speeches she can, making hundreds of thousands of dollars a pop, until they figure out what is going on, and that could take a few years! She will become rich, and her followers try and find another nut to follow!

3. Yes, though it isn't stupidity...
If they don't feel secure in the economy, Americans will happily elect Palin. But 2012 is along way away. A better question would be "Will AMericans return the majority in the House and/or the Senate to Republcians?

7. No
It's obvious to even most Republicans that she's a moron. She only has support from Bush's very vocal 23% and the media that loves a clown car wreck.

She would never make it out of a Republican primary. There's too much dirty laundry for Mitten's to dredge up.

30. She has the same support W had at the end of his second term.
In 2000, it wasn't obvious to 77% that Bush was completely incompetent. In 2004, he had 9/11 and two wars fueling a wave of faux-patriotism and still almost was beaten.

Palin doesn't have that behind her. It's obvious to all Democrats and a majority of Republicans that she's an idiot.

14. Is the American electoral system so thoroughly corrupted by the Diebold/ES&S machines
that the stupid people will believe Sarah Palin was elected pResident?

That hardcore stupid base only adds up to 20% of the voters. And since half the people never show up to vote at all, it's really only 10% of the population.

600 fucking people showed up at the Teabaggerpalooza. Half of them were probably the mediawhores hyping the event, especially Moosealini's dumb ass rantings and hand scribbling. These people aren't winning any election.

Corrupt machines just might. Especially with Obama alienating the very people who elected him. Massive turnout is the only thing that can beat massive fraud, and if the election were held today, I don't think he would have it.

of being selected pResident by the same people who selected the pResident in 2000 & 2004.

Recent history has shown us:

~ Those who vote decide nothing; those who count the votes decide everything.
~ The SCOTUS has proven that what's best for Repugs trumps everything.

Being the major candidate? No way would those swing voters be that dumb. The people who support her are the absolute right, not numerous enough for her to even get the R nomination.

40. You are misunderstanding the dynamics of authoritarian movements, Iggo
The Nazi Party was only 10% of Germany in 1932-3, I believe.

I am afraid I must disagree, for there is more than enough of them and the rest of the American Subject Population is so beat down, TV-zombified, exhausted, harried, and hurried that it can do little except go along to get along.

39. As we are very psychologically close to the 1933 Germans, as a nation, I don't think there is
ANYTHING we wouldn't do, especially if times start getting economically brutal.

That's something of an oversimplification, but we already have the virulent 10% Nazi Party, the 20% "Nazis without the guts to look their victims in the eye" to cheerlead from the sidelines, and the 60% or more sheeplike Good German part and the laws all ready to go to Nazi us up, made during the reign of Bushler and ready to be turned like a key in an ignition.

As the Totalitarian Future and whatever the Final Solution our Corporate Bushies have in store for us rushes toward us, remember what I said.

Very soon, if not already, there is not an atrocity, not an evil, that "we" would not do, especially if it is marketed and rebranded properly.

How the fuck that is possible, I have no idea.

My brother is friends with a person I consider to be quite intelligent. Unfortunately, that person is exceedingly conservative. Somehow, he thinks Palin is underestimated by the left.

Either he's delusional, she's putting on an act, or both.

But yes, this country is surely misguided enough to elect her.

Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 04:44 PM by Quixote1818
on a local conservative station where 90% of the callers are conservative. Almost none of the callers liked her. One negative call after another about her and these callers all sounded like redneck, card carrying NRA members. The main complaint was that they could not stand her voice. She has a fan base that loves her but beyond that she will divide the Republican party between the nuts the moderates and those who don't like women with annoying voices.

They have a big majority in the House, the Senate and run the executive branch of government.

What more do they need to govern and lead this nation out of the Great Recession and health care crisis?

49. Many, as scary as it is, yes, are - however, the US populace doesn't decide "elections" anyway...
... so it's more a matter of, if vested interests actually wanted her as the chief actor for four yrs, could they effectively 'sell' her via the M$M, along with the entire industry of professional punditry/spin, to the extent that when those interests secure an 'election victory' for her, would enough dim bulbs buy the results. As we saw w/Bush, twice!!!...yes, many unfortunately are that willfully blind.

52. The American public is pretty stupid,
but she could never in a million years win the general election. She would get her base, and even if she managed to increase the size of it a little, she would never get 51% of the vote.

It would be fun if she managed to win in the primaries, though. Can you just imagine the debates? The interviews? She would have to do a hell of a lot more public speaking than she did as a Vice-Presidential candidate. She would have to do all of the networks - not just Faux.

Oh god, that we're even discussing this is surreal. I will never forgive John McCain for dragging her out of Wasilla and giving her to us.
