they act like using a teleprompter is a crime.

the speaker can have paper notes on the stand and its ok but put the same notes on a teleprompter its a crime????

when did all this anti-teleprompter stuff began and who began it?

I have no problem with any speaker using a teleprompter. do you all?

1. The same thing that was "wrong" with Kerry's purple heart

You can turn a strength into a weakness and a weakness into a strength as long as your audience has a short memory--or if you're shouting so loudly you prevent them from remembering.

2. Look back to Bush's use of a teleprompter...
Dems constantly harped on Bush using one...now we are reaping what we sowed...

7. THAT was what people were making fun of...
Not that he was using the teleprompter, but that everything had to be written out phonetically.

11. When was that?
I remember scoring Bush for scripted press conferences, stacked audiences, and dishonest photo ops, but I don't remember even one instance of Bush being criticized for reading prepared remarks off a Teleprompter. I remember the kerfuffle over the apparent transmitter under his jacket during one of the debates with Kerry, and the nine minutes' wonder of slapping "Made in USA" stickers on boxes over the top of "Made in China" stickers so that it looked like Bush wasn't promoting Chinese made goods. But I don't remember anyone at anytime - much less "constantly harping" - getting on Bush for using a Teleprompter.

5. Nothing wrong at all,
Sarah used them herself. As has been said already, her asinine followers won't remember that, and she knows it.

6. It's like everything else they CHOOSE to make a big deal out of.
Usually it isn't

But ask Caribou Barbie if she can do a town hall without putting notes on her hands for scripted questions.

12. The RW rationilization re. Obama goes..
... something like this "But he's supposed to be the smartest guy in the room, right? So he shouldn't have to use a teleprompter."

13. You know, I asked this question on my local's rag's comment board.
And one of the crazies piped up with a reference to Obama "using a teleprompter in a 6th-grade classroom". So I looked that up, and yup, it's an overblown non-event they are still trying to milk.

14. It's supposed to undercut the fact that Obama is a good speaker.
Repukes believe that if Obama delivers an amazing speech from a teleprompter it doesn't count.

They always seem to forget every time Obama has dominated press conferences, debates, interviews, and pretty much any other time he speaks without a teleprompter.
