Beware of Political Trickery (re: Shelby's Blanket Hold).

Today, Sen. Shelby released his blanket hold on Obama's nominees.

The White House said they did nothing to get Shelby to do this, and that he did this of his own accord.

Here's what Shelby was probably doing:

- A politician makes a demand he knows is going to be fulfilled.

- Then he performs political theater in an effort to stand for those demands.

- Then he gives in.

- Then the "demands" are later apparently "met".

- Then the Administration is made to look week and Shelby looks like a hero (at least in Alabama).

So, sometime soon, don't immediately lash out at Obama for "caving" to Shelby and wonder why Dems always do this. They don't. It's political theater. There are other stunts like this that have been pulled with HCR, including apparently, "deals" made on the bill that were actually not made or requested by the individual parties.
