How did Dave get Leno to do a Late Show promo?

I suspect that Dave offered Jay a lot of money. Maybe a million. Maybe a quarter of that. But a lot of money. To fly across the country to spend twenty minutes filming a comedy bit. And to sneak Leno in with a hoodie and a fake mustache.

Just so Dave could confirm to his own satisfaction that Jay is a whore that will literally do anything for a check. Even advertise against his own show.

But upon consideration I think that perhaps Jay thought he could get publicity for his own show at the same time. Worked for me.

They were once really good and close friends.

I'm pretty sure other than the expense of the flight and the hotel, Jay did it for free.

7. How was it a "Late Show" promo?

People don't go on the Late Show to help the Late Show. They do it cause they're promoting something. Jay's on a big push to get his pre-Conan audience back.

8. Actually, all three looked good. The promo wouldn't have hurt any of their viewership numbers.

While it was branded a Letterman promo, viewers would all have said, cool, those dudes and Oprah are all cool.

I doubt it took much effort to play a fun stunt, especially if Leno had other business in town.
