I must say I am partially impressed that the American right is rallying behind a woman.
Change comes in unexpected forms sometimes, but without a doubt, this would have been utterly impossible twenty years ago.

4. amusing, when you consider the "Todd e-mails" which were discovered
which showed how much he was doing in the "background" ...

makes you remember the days when the Republicans/Conservatives attacked Hillary Clinton, claiming she was the real string-puller behind her then-President Bill ...

She is only being exploited and would be controlled like no other. If you thought Raygun was a puppet bu$h made him look real, then Palin would make bu$h look like he knew what was going on.

13. Didn't they rally around Anita Bryant in the '70's?
She got a lot of media attention too, but ridicule put an end to her ambitions. I'm not sure she considered running for office, but she did influence elections, etc.

17. The "American right" has less hatred for women than they do black people apparently.
Because that is what drives the right: HATRED.

They are war mongers and they hate everyone who isn't just like them. That woman is the lesser of two evils, so some of them support her. The few with intelligence and common sense don't, however, and that is splitting the party in two.

The sooner the whole lot is flushed down the toilet, the better.

She's been given a pass on a lot of touchy issues because of her gender.

Right-wing males want to be seen in her company, and women think her good looks make her "one of them"

32. Last Year's Model.
Palin was a breath of fresh air in the usual GOP sausage-fest, and that is the entire extent of her maverickyness. She failed to catch on, but she's still pretty enough to get on TV.

25. The American Right Is NOT Rallying Around Palin
The MEDIA is rallying around Palin, because she is god's gift to what passes for journalists these days. She's a polarizing figure that is guaranteed to generate interest, either positive or negative, every time she appears. She enjoys the support of a small and crazy fringe, and she enjoys a different kind of support from the far larger crowd who despise her for her stupity (which, in all fairness, is not her fault) and her least-common-denominator-pandering (which is). Sarah Palin is news because people will tune into programs to hear what she's said, either to ridicule her or praise her. If we start ignoring her, eventually the media will drop her and throw someone else up for us to love or hate.

28. Let's recap: They voted bush cuz they want'ed to have a beer with him...
Not because he was a good leader or had a great intellect that would enable him to solve any of the serious problems facing the nation and world, but cuz he seemed like a great guy to have a beer with.

So, what do you think they envision doing with Failin Palin? I doubt they really think she is a good leader or has a great intellect that would enable her to solve any of the serious problems facing the nation or world. What do we suppose they want to do? Have a beer with her?

Sorry, I do not think this idol worship of Palin by the American right is any sign of positive change. Looks more like the same ol objectifying and projecting to me.

I wonder what would have happened if Hillary Clinton had become our president. I have a suspicion that they would be dwelling in sexism.

33. It's because she's a stupid woman. They can accept that.
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 02:50 PM by Atman
She doesn't speak intelligently, she doesn't make them feel inferior. She's just a cheerleader. Republicans HATE strong women. Which is why the LOVE Palin. They feel they might have a chance of being friends with her if they brought over a 30-pack of Bud Light and a bag of Doritos. Like the way they loved Bush because he was someone they could have a beer with. Republicans are anti-intellectuals. People dumber than they are are non-threatening.
