Waste Management just raised my quarterly bill from $42 to $45
And watching the Undercover Boss show has made me feel tons better about that little increase of $12/year.

2. There are price increases I don't mind one little bit
and water/garbage/sewer charges top the list. I know what it's like to haul your garbage and recycling to the town dump once a week and how miserable it is if you're sick and have to haul a couple of week's worth in the summer.

I also remember my grandmother burning the garbage in a pit in back of the house because the "ash men" would pick up only every 3 months.

I'll pay those guys well. They do a rotten job and improve my quality of life immeasurably.

3. Well you could just not use the service, take care of your own trash.
Unless you're situation is like mine.

As a homeowner, I am obliged by law to pay for services.

Even if, like Ed Begley Jr., I only produced a bag or two of trash per year (because of recycling, etc.), I would have to pay for service.

10. I had to pay $20 a month for trash pick up when I lived in an apartment complex
which paid a private firm to empty the dumpster. So the city collected literally a couple thousand a month from my complex and did nothing whatsoever to earn that money. It was outrageous. Plus my electric bill, also a city utility, was about $600 a month at the end. I was very glad to move out.

5. IMO the show is a farce.
Were the cameras all hidden?

If they were out in the open were the employees that stupid?

None of the employees know who is there boss?

7. If the CEO or COO showed up to my office I wouldn't know it
Well, I've seen pictures of the CEO, so maybe I could pick him out. Hell, I wouldn't even recognize the President of the company (there are multiple locations, each location has it's own President/VPs, and then there's higher ups above them). I only know 2 of the VPs here, because I've been to meetings with them, but I wouldn't know the other VPs.
