45. You mean that song they wrote 45 years ago with the lyric
"I hope I die before I get old"?

Did they play that one? I DVRed the game and fast-forwarded through halftime.

12. Sorry but Pino Palladino and Zak Starkey did a really good job
"Who?"

Pino is the best bassist England has to offer and Zak is Ringo's son, and he knows his job too.

Don't forget that Entwistle died (in bed with a hooker, sorry, I mean a stripper) and so did Moon, that does not mean the show has to stop.

5. Agreed.
There's just something about 60ish year old men singing "Teenage Wasteland". Ugh.

I'm not disrespecting their place in rock history, but that was one of the worst halftime shows I've ever seen.

11. They started out slow, but finished strong.
But, really, what do you expect? It's a football halftime show.

I thought Daltrey's voice would crap out, but I thought it got stronger the longer he went on.

For what it was, I thought it was pretty good.

14. Why the past tense? It should be "The Who Suck!"
Only Roger Daltrey's parents think he can sing.

It was fairly awful to hear the crowd singing "We don't get fooled again." There was essentially no non-nauseating aspect to it.

When their 60 year old faces are helmeted with a 22 year old's hair, you can suspect something. Same with Jagger.

36. Pete was OK. Daltrey was painfully horrible
I didn't pay attention to any of the scabs, though I guess Ringo Jr. is a better fit for the "band" than Kenney Jones ever was. (Kenney was great with the Faces, but not with the Who.)

It ain't easy singing and playing rock songs like those from your 20s when you're in your 60s.

It was a great medley from a classic rock band. I've seen them when they were younger and more vigorous, but still its a treat to see them do their thang.

42. Some groups can continue to play on into old age
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 10:44 PM by joe_sixpack
Paul Mcartney does okay, and U2 adust well enough.
But groups like the Who, and in some respects, the Stones seemed to be such an expression of raw, rebellious youth in their prime, that it's sad to see them try and replicate that at this stage of their careers. If you'd been to one of their shows when they still rocked, or watch some old concert footage, you'd be fully aware that they bloody kiced ass back then. Groups that exhibited that kind of raw, frenzied energy should just hang it up when it's time, and not shuffle out to be an embarrassing caricature of their former selves.

43. Enjoyed the retro
foot tapping. There, I'm aging myself. It surely didn't sound like they were in their 20's, but I though they did pretty darned good. I enjoyed the light stage/show and just laid back and let it flow without too much heartache over the fact they didn't sound like they were 2o.

PS...the game was so-o-o very good :)

47. Did you listen
to the Who lyrics of " Won't get fooled again"?....old song but can be about now...
....
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
..............
I can relate !

48. They were great!
Yeah they got old. So what. Roger looks like he's in better health - maybe it's the glasses.

I was mad at the camera men. They never showed: a)the keyboard player (using the same keyboards I happen to have), b) Simon Townshend, Pete's little brother, and c)the bass player.

They all sounded competent to me.

The light up ring around the stage was frickin AWESOME.

LONG LIVE ROCK, BE IT DEAD OR ALIVE!!!! :headbang:

Can we form a line to kick Perky's ass????

:toast:

56. A lot of what we were hearing was prerecorded.
Certainly all of the keyboard parts...at times the drumming looked suspect to me.

I noticed that we could hear full power chords ringing from what was supposed to be Townshend's guitar while his shirttail was actually resting on the strings, although the solos he was playing were live.
