I keep saying drive your power use down by going efficient, you don't have to be well off either we have done so and have further plans to reinsulate the house when we re roof and replace siding. You spend a little to save a lot, we saved 1500 on our power bill because I fixed the leaks in the house and paited the roof white with Kool Seal and used no ac at all last year. we switced to CFLs years ago now as they die off I am replacing them with the low cost LEDs from Sams Club, just what we have saved in cost of the bulbs alone and the power saved has paid for the membership. No I am not a fan of the walton family, but the membership is the only benefit partner gets at work aside from a chip in on health insurance. We hope we can get solar water heater put up this year, but still ahve to get balance of system and eventually solar power. I am disabled and most of the projects so far cost 100 or 50$ but the annual savings has added up to 24,000$ that is each year. We spent 3400 over 3 1/2 4 yrs. I grew up about 45 miles sw of three mile island then the melt down occured the school went on full alert, folks were pretty freaked out.
