5. Says, Geneva conventions are too old and don't apply anymore.
but Fareed is nailing him- so why don't we say we can do anything we want to these people like gouging out their eyes, to which Yoo says we have standards, which Fareed then says those standards are the Geneva Conventions. Nailed him in the first minute. Circular argument. Like the circular firing squad that was the Bush administration.

11. Zakaria is one of the few journalists left
He asks the tough questions and doesn't ask like a sycophant when interviewing. We need more like him.

13. Yoo sayez Congress or Supreme Court can always stop the permanent massive
expansion of presidential powers. Fareed says that is irresponsible. The president has responsibility to reign in powers. Fareed is also nailing him on the specific powers - Yoo says it's ok to expand wire tapping etc, but not ok for the president to nationalize industry. (gawd forbid they would interfere with big biznuzz).

15. Is Yoo a Moonie?
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 01:51 PM by grasswire
That question has been asked many times. An affirmative answer would explain why he has acted to destroy America's most bedrock principles -- that is the stated goal of Sun Myung Moon -- and why Yoo came to prominence from nowhere.

17. Look at it this way.
I thought the most interesting part was when Fareed Zakaria was trying to compare al Qaeda to the IRA terrorists. This pre-9/11 thinking falls apart, however, when one considers the motives of the two groups. The IRA was (and is) fighting for the freedom of Northern Ireland from British rule. If the Brits would allow Northern Ireland to join with the rest of the Irish Republic, the IRA would go away. Al Qaeda, on the other hand, has as its published goal, the destruction of Western society. They will not be satisfied until Western society - that would be you and me - either converts to Islam or is destroyed. How are you going to negotiate with that?

Remember, bin Laden doesn't care if you are Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative. You are still an infidel and his minions have sworn to kill you.
