From Juan Cole : "Saying 'Constitution' while meaning 'Lawlessness': Palin attacks Obama"
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 09:38 AM by malletgirl02
"Sarah Palin's turn before the teabaggers was an exercise in emptying the US Constitution of meaning while seeming to exalt it.

She praised US military personnel for defending the constitution.

But she complained that constitutional protections were offered to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the underpants bomber. She said it is 'our' constitution, reducing it from a universal document (the Declaration of Independence says 'all men' are endowed with inalienable rights) to a tribal one."

2. This was also her biggest applause line.
"Then she said we need a commander in chief, not a professor of constitutional law."

I couldn't believe it when I heard it, either, and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sat up and noticed her not so subtle message. That darn Constitution... It makes it so difficult to torture...

When the room erupted in applause, I think that told us everything we needed to know about the MSM's most favored American patriots.

3. What do we need?

After the eight years of our "wanted dead or alive" commander in chief, a professor of Constitutional Law is EXACTLY WHAT THIS COUNTRY NEEDED.

Which makes it even more tragic that our Professor of Constitutional Law is continuing Bush's extra-Constitutional crimes well past his first full year in office.

Obama should know better. I WANT ALL MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, not just the remaining ones that haven't been overturned yet!

PS - Did she really say "Hows that hope-eee and changeee working out for yah?"
