Police: Man lied to hide act of charity
Police: Man lied to hide act of charity

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Tennessee say a man who did not want his wife to know he gave $5 to a homeless man falsely reported being robbed.

Timothy Ray Sutton, 23, of Clarksville was charged Thursday with filing a false police report, The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reported. Bail was set at $1,000.

Sutton reported being robbed Monday, telling police he felt something hard being pressed against his back by a man who demanded money. He said the robbery occurred as he unlocked his car door in a parking lot.

While Sutton gave police a description of the robber, he said he never saw a weapon. A detective investigated the robbery and determined it never happened, police said.

1. charge the jackass with filing a false police report.
I'll bet he spent the money on drugs, not on charity.

3. So now he has to explain to his wife why he's out $1000
instead of admitting to giving away $5.00 ... real smart. :eyes: :silly:

7. Hm. Victim of domestic violence?
Why would he have to lie about giving a homless guy some money? This is either a guy in a very unhealthy relationship or he is still lying.
