Reasoning with teabaggers is like petting skunks: no matter how careful you are; no matter

how pure your intentions; no matter how many times you rehearse---they're going to piss all over you.

These people aren't who they are because they lack information. In this day and age, anyone who lacks facts is willfully ignorant; they have chosen not to understand. They are birthers or Tenthers or homophobes or anti-choice because it pleases them---in some twisted sense that we will not likely ever understand---to be recognized as such.

Are there exceptions? Of course, but understand that they are just that: exceptions. Most people who are willing to openly participate in a teabagger rally or other public event are, for the time being, not just unreachable, but dangerous. We liberals are not simply people with differing political views. We are, in their fevered minds, "the enemy": America-hating communist muslims out to destroy THEIR beloved country. They have been encouraged to think that it is OK to do ANYTHING reasonably necessary to stop us.

And, some of them are "packing".

Give them room to absorb some more reality before we try to "enlist" any of them. For some, it may take months. For others, years will have to pass. Some will go to their graves cursing us damn liberals.

But, for now, I think that anyone not literally prepared to physically defend themselves should forget about "discussing" anything with these poor angry fools.
