I got stopped by a cop today, in Canton, OH.
I was trying to make a left hand turn and then decided against it when I noticed that my car wasn't going in the direction I was pointing it in. The cop stopped me because I was in the middle lane and trying to make a left hand turn from it. I pulled over and he pulled up on my right, instead of behind me. He motioned me to turn down my passenger side window and asked me where I learned to drive. I told him I learned in Texas. He said that I was on a three lane road and trying to turn from the middle lane. I told him that I couldn't tell it was the middle lane because there were no lines on the road that I could see because the snow was covering them up. He just shook his head and watched me try to drive over the curb. Heh.

2. Did you get a ticket?
I only ask because I got pulled over yesterday. I was driving in Berkeley by the University and somehow thought I was on a one way street. Except I wasn't. I was trying to turn left from the lane going in the opposite direction. Another car followed me so the cop pulled both of us over. Her excuse was that she was following me.

The cop did the whole drivers license/insurance/registration check on both of us. I told him to not give a ticket to the car behind me since she followed me.

Then he just let me go with a warning to pay attention to the yellow lines in the center of the street and told me to stay safe.

Knock me over with a feather. I was clearly in the wrong. Yeah I was confused as the streets in Berkeley can be very confusing but he let me go with a warning to just pay attention.

No snow involved.

It's also nice to know that I am not wanted for anything...

4. Nah. He didn't even ask for my license.
He just shook his head in disgust and went on his way. I told him I couldn't see the lines in the road because the snow was covering them!

3. Learning to drive in Texas: that was your first mistake.
When I was living in Boulder, there was a snowstorm - 8-10 inches. I got up in the morning, dusted off the car & drove to work, like I normally did. I got pulled over after a few minutes; the cop said "Don't you know all the roads are closed?" I replied, "I'm from Buffalo. For me this is a light dusting!"

Last time I got a laugh out of a cop.
