Wanna Read Something Frightening/Hilarious?
Found this as one of my friends' status messages on Facebook.

"Taken from the 'Being Conservative' fan page....."Today would have been President Reagan's 99th birthday. We've always missed him, but his current stand-in makes us miss him now more than ever. Let's hope and pray the 2010 elections bring us closer to his political philosophy. We should thank God we're Americans, not apologize to the world because we are. Happy birthday President Reagan."

I can't even BEGIN to make the list of all the things that are wrong with that paragraph.

Is his "current stand-in" up for re-election in 2010?

4. Devastating!!!
I'm totally posting that as a reply. His words, spoken 62 years ago, sound eerily familiar.

12. Here's What I Wrote In Response To That
"My last post may have come off more confrontational than I wanted it to, but I have this odd compulsion to counter myths with truth. I figured people would prefer to know the truth rather than deify a myth, but I guess I was wrong. And since when is stating a fact "disrespect"? He's the one who did those awful things. I just pointed them out."

Oh, by the way, I didn't just post that link. I also posted a one-paragraph summary of the things Reagan did as President (expanded the size of the government, raised taxes, increased the deficit, supported amnesty for illegal immigrants, was pro-gay rights, pro-gun control, and pro-labor unions, ignored his military advisers, committed acts of treasons and violations of international law, etc.) This, apparently, was the "disrespect" I showed the God of Republicans. I DID end my post with the phrase, "THIS is the best president the Republicans can come up with? How embarrassing." Maybe THAT was the "disrespect." Beats me.

14. In Retrospect.........
........I probably should have just posted the link and then sat back and laughed. But I always unload with both barrells, so I just couldn't resist piling on. It would have made for a much better "covert op" to just leave the link, because unsuspecting righties would click on it and be taken aback. Now the link has been deleted. Serves me right for going overboard.

3. Was your friend maybe a child during the Reagan years?
I think I may have weathered Reagan fine had I been a bit younger.

As it was I got to deal with homelessness, cutbacks in social services, and constant fear of nuclear war.
I miss Ronnie like I miss scabies.

7. This Is Someone I Went To School With
So she's the same age as I am, meaning she was about 8 years old when Reagan took office. I have also noticed that the people who seem to like Reagan the best are people of my age, who had absolutely no awareness of the things that he actually DID. I remember when I first got to college, I had a class where we read a book called, "The Reagan Revolution?" which basically listed out every stupid thing Reagan ever did as President. The people in my class (who were obviously all roughly the same age as me) were literally SHOCKED to hear that ANYONE had a bad word to say about Reagan. They couldn't believe it. That is a phenomenon I'm noticing more and more often. Reagan Lovers can't really tell you anything he did. They always fall back on the old chestnut of, "He won the Cold War," which anyone with any knowledge of history knows isn't true.

16. I think they should all apologize for being republicans
which is the cause of the downslide/downturn mess that we are in today. Thank the good Lord there AIN'T one in charge today. All they know how to do is cut taxes, cut taxes. Give em a pair of scissors and they are satisfied.
