Iowa has 1 FTE + .5 FTE inspectors for 3300 dams.
And Texas has 7 FTE inspectors for 7400 dams. The History Channel is airing a program now about our deteriorating infrastructure and talking about the lack of funding for maintaining our infrastructure. Aside from deteriorating structures there are significant danger that threatens communities and people because of this.

This program is well worth viewing. It's called "The Crumbling of America."

5. And who says there are no jobs to be created here?
SOme of these projects would take not only a significant investment of dollars but time and effort over years to complete.

6. Exactly.. and people can see it, feel it, touch it, and feel proud of what they
did to help their country. its very patriotic to feel that one can have lasting impact for the generations of the future when they feel they are making their country better.

4. really. people should look around and take notice of where water

would run if a nearby dam broke.
