I just landed on MSNBC for a couple of minutes. It should be renamed
MSTMZ.

Moving along now...

1. Don't watch it until Olbermann and Maddow come on in the
evening.

Might change your mind.

2. I stopped watching in early Dec. Was just checking the
stock market scores on my way across the dial. Though I loves me some Keif and Rachel, I only watch clips of them online when someone posts one on DU.

I just thought it was interesting to see that I made the right choice in quitting watching all day, every day. I'm sick of the celebri-gossip, the sensationalism, the day-side right-wing lean, the lame pundits, and the spinning politics and obvious propaganda.

3. You're lucky you caught any programming at all.
Every time I tune in MSNBC for a "couple of minutes" I see a couple of minutes of commercials. Then a couple minutes more of commercials, and then maybe a couple minutes more after that. Sometimes I give up in disgust after 7 or 8 minutes in a row of advertising with no actual programming at all.

4. Commercials for: 1. drugs, 2. insurance, 3. drugs...
4. cough medicine (drugs), 5. investment bankers...well, you get the idea.

5. And so many of them!
I counted 22 commercials in a row during one long break on MSNBC. What if some small-company advertiser spent a ton of money to be, say, the 15th commercial in a string of 22? What is the likelihood that anyone will see or remember that particular ad?

Indeed, why would a cable network have such l-o-o-o-ong commercial breaks while knowing full well that every one of their viewers has at their fingertips a remote that allows them to instantly switch to any one of dozens of other channels? Is there a viewer somewhere who just sits there staring at 7 minutes of commercials, waiting for them to be over? I switch to another channel the moment the blitz begins!

6. One of the reasons commercials have gotten so stupid.
They have to grab your attention in the first 3 seconds.
