I didn’t know who he was before the debate. I like his style and passion. That said Edwards is who I would vote for. Least favorite Richardson.

17. I agree with that - Dodd, Edwards, Kucinich and Biden all did well for the most part.
I wanted Obama to do better, and expected Hillary to sound better since she'd been working with a voice coach.

I did like Biden more than I expected to, and Gravel said some things that I wish the "mainstream" people would say. Hillary was OK, not all that impressive (the usual safe, bland responses) and Obama wasn't as eloquent as I expected him to be. Dodd and Kucinich said some good things, too; Richardson was OK, too, though a bit long-winded. Nobody sucked.

Biden most impressive.

John Edwards seems calm and in control.

13. OK.
1) Richardson - Did OK, not great, not bad.

2) Clinton - Didn't win any points with people who don't already support her

3) Obama - Too measured and careful. Didn't change anyone's mind.

4) Kucinich - Very good job tonight.

5) Biden - Also very good job. I'd give him the edge based solely on tonight.

6) Dodd - Meh. OK.

7) Gravel - Get off my lawn, you damn kids!

8) Edwards - You'll see him gain some points in the polls after tonight. Guaranteed.

15. Gravel.
He does not mince words. I really admire the fact that he can be that genuine. Clearly he's the most genuine, as no one would pretend to be like that. He has good positions on the issues he's been allowed to talk about, and I think it's time that we had a presidential contender who did not try so hard to project an image. That being said, with $500 on hand, I'm not holding my breath. Out of the main contenders, Edwards excels by far, i think, with Obama second and Hillary a distant third.

Gravel has a better shot in a general election than any of our front runners. White male bubbas actually might consider him. They won't consider a woman, a black man and a metrosexual (the way they see it, not my opinion).

54. Gravel helped Kucinich,imo
Gravel said a lot of good things (especially about treating the world as equals) but on the radio he came across as on the verge of starting a brawl with someone at any second.Usually the media plays the "goofball" angle on Dennis, but Gravel solved that problem.

I agree that Biden did well, even on things I disagreed with him about. He was the biggest surprise for me.He's right about Putin and it was to hear the word Darfur actually brought up.

53. Kucinich, Gravel (only because he wasn't exposed), and Biden (similer to Gravel).
Edwards' health care proposal is far, far too cozy with the corporations. Kucnich wins on that.
Gravel is whacked out when it comes to taxastion and other economic issues. Edwards wins on that.
Biden is far too hawkish ... and lost on the "war as a policy tool"

I think it might be necessary to DECODE the phrase "war as a policy tool" ...
War on Drugs
War on Terror
War on Crime

Believe me when I say that 'war' is insanity, NOT sanity and NOT policy. It's INSANE to perpetrate 'war' as a policy tool.

56. Kucinich, but I'll give my opinions on all
Richardson - did not impress me. Seemed to stand out as taking the conservative positions instead of standing out among our candidates.

Clinton - she did solidly. Can't see her dropping after this. Wanted to see her take back her IWR vote more, but she did a good job of pointing out how invisible the middle class and poor are under Bush.

Obama - he seemed nervous and inexperienced to me. I was disappointed.

Kucinich - as usual, he did a good job of getting to the meat of things that the others, rightly or wrongly, don't want to say.

Biden - I loved his one word answer, and he came across as quite intelligent. Still mad about his banruptcy vote, though, and he's a little slick.

Dodd - Gave a terrible answer on Roberts IMO. Not impressed.

Gravel - I was surprised at his passion. It was nice that he helped Dennis out.

Edwards - the debate winner among the fruntrunners IMO. His answer on the haircut question showed how silly that issue is. Was poised and prepared.

The worst were the questions Brian gave. I hope they give those trivial gotcha questions to the Repukes.

just listened from in here (spare bedroom where the 'puter is).
Decided to let Mr 'pede give me his impression when it was over.
The Hubby Poll lists four faves in no particular order: Kucinich, Edwards, Richardson, Obama. Decision was based on who really got his attention. With the rest, his mind would wander while they were speaking, nothing original, just spouting what others said. Not a scientific 'pede household poll - the dog didn't get a vote.

IMHO Obama did not handle the three most important allies question well since NATO and the European Union are not normally considered to be 'allies.'

You are a member of NATO with mutual obligations between and among the various members thereof.

The European Union is an economic entity for the most part, and individual countries that make up the European Union are still responsible for their own defense.
