15. Evan ended his long diatribe against the Democrats being crazy spenders by
asking "Why should the American people trust Democrats when in comes to a balanced budget?"

Obama: "I'll tell you why. Because the last time the budget was balanced in this country it was by a Democrat, Bill Clinton."

Evan sat down.

*I'm paraphrasing.

10. True that...
There is a reason that he was elected governor of Indiana twice. That was perhaps the most surprising Red-to-Blue state in the last election to me since I grew up there and know the state a little too well.

34. Yes, there would be a difference
Look at the results of this survey by the Shriver Center.

Bayh earned an A or 86% on voting for measures to reduce poverty compared to Lugar's C.

And look what the GOP members in the house did compared to the Dems.

It may not be what you want, but YES, there is a big difference between the parties.

like restraint on corporate power, is smaller every day between the two party's, thanks to phony Dems like Bayh.

37. I'm not totally disagreeing with you
but who is the progressive running against Bayh in the primary? I don't see one.

All I see are calls for his defeat, which puts a Republican in his place. Did you look at that vote chart? Major bills would not be passed without the votes of Dems like him. I'm not trading moderates for people who won't vote for ANY bill that remotely helps people. Look at Pence. We don't need more people like that in power.

If you don't want people like Bayh, start getting more progressive people to run and win. Don't cheer the demise of fellow Dems if that means the GOP regains power. And, yes, it really does matter. The sun will set on the tax cuts for the rich. Do you think that would happen under the GOP?

39. I really hate the way our party excuses our own right wingers by
giving us a false dichotomy of "they're better than the GOP's right wingers".

20 years ago a guy like Bayh would have been a happy Reagan Republican.

Its a shame our party thinks we have to promote Reaganism to beat the party of Reagan.

44. You're not even listening to me
Put up the progressives to run and I will vote for them.

And it's not a false dichotomy. Look at Bayh's votes. I would find more evidence that he sides with the Dems way more often than not. I'm not "promoting" anything. I'm looking at the choices that we have and picking the best available. Let's work to make the best available a better choice than handing over the reins and saying they all suck so what's the difference.

Do you think a socialist like Bernie Sanders would get elected in Indiana? If so, you haven't spent time in Indiana.

46. Wake up Conservatives Dems
Just heard there is a chance that former sen. Dan Coates (R) is planing to run against him in the next election. Even in a state as ass backward as Indiana his seat had been pretty safe. Now i'm not so sure. These lukewarm Democrats had better wake up. There are a number of them who seem bound and determined to make sure they loose their next election. Instead of trying to be a republican how a bout being what you were elected to be. If you insist on being a republicrat in an on the fence state like Indiana then they might as well just vote for a republican. If it can happen in Massachusetts it can happen pretty much anywhere. If you continue to play moderate and you get a serious challenge from Coates do you really think progressives are going to go out of their way to vote for you next time? I don't want a republican in this seat anymore than any other progressive does but as I've said before, a democrat who acts and votes like a republican is just as useless as a republican and it appears Evan is the next Democrat who can't seem to wait to find that out first hand.
It would be nice if the party we voted into power would, I don't know, maybe represent the people who voted them into power instead of the people who didn't. I'm not quite sure why this is SO DAMNED Hard for them to understand.
