CNN Tops MSNBC In Weekday Prime Time For First Time In Six Months
Source: Mediaite.com

CNN topped MSNBC during the weekday prime time in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic during January (both were far behind FNC). It was the first time CNN beat MSNBC in those categories in six months.

CNN was helped by their coverage of Haiti, which was both the most comprehensive of any cable network and boosted the ratings, especially in the first week after the earthquake.

Other notes about CNN ratings:

• MSNBC’s prime time line-up of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow slipped to 3rd – Olbermann behind HLN’s Nancy Grace and Maddow behind Larry King.

3. People actually watch Nancy Grace? I had insomnia one night
and put on the TV at about 1:00 AM and actaully spent about 20 minutes laughing at the show. Just awful.

4. Oh I get it--someone not a fan of Olbermann because
he doesn't have republicans on, now trumpeting his lower ratings. On a Democratic site.

10. One would think
the "kingofalldems" would welcome all truth, favorable or not.
Especially on a Democratic site.

9. No, but it would appear that he is accusing Nielsen of doing so
Did he explain why their numbers were wrong?

12. Haiti vs Politics
I tuned to CNN last month because they were doing more coverage of Haiti -

MSNBC is the place for politics and sometimes I need a break from the punditry.

15. I Am Not A Fan Of CNN...But This Is Not Surprising...
while MSNBC is the best place to go for political news, they really don't do all that good of a job covering 'other' news.

Sure they depart from their normal schedule to cover the current 'Breaking News' event, but that only makes sense.

I love Rachel to death, but she has to do something more then just repeat what Keith has already talked about.

And lets face it, when it comes to late night and week-ends how many times can you watch a 'Locked Down-Locked Up-Behind Bars' type of program?

17. I don't care...
I stopped regularly watching cable news in the first half of December over the Tiger Woods debacle. I watched a bit of earthquake coverage on CNN and I'll still catch live events on M$NBC/CNN that interest me - if the even is not available online. But, otherwise, I'm done with celebrity gossip-, propaganda- and opinion-infused "news".

18. Nutjob Nancy Grace is NOT ahead of Olbermann
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 11:14 AM by SOS
The OP link is citing a CNN press release.
KO has 504,000 more viewers P2+ which were left out of the false CNN claim.
Here are the real total ratings for 1/15/10:

8PM – P2+
The O’Reilly Factor – 3,661,000
Campbell Brown – 1,243,000
Countdown w/ K. Olbermann – 995,000
Nancy Grace – 745,000
